Google Shakes Up the Fashion Industry

While the tech geniuses at Google have proved themselves capable of dominating many facets of our world, I never thought the fashion industry would be one of them. But their newest venture, Boutiques.com, is shaking up the fashion industry and has quickly become my latest fashion obsession.  After hearing all the hype, I couldn’t wait to give this site a try…

3 Reasons Why I love This Site

1. Creating Your Own Virtual Store? Yes Please!

The site uses different tools to determine each user’s style perspective, including favorite colors, styles and silhouettes. Then it generates a virtual boutique, filled with an impressive selection of items targeted towards that specific style.  Now, I cannot only shop within my mini-store, but I can also share it with fellow fashionistas.

2. Categories

The site is divided into trend categories, which makes it super easy to shop for particular styles. So if I’m looking for a pair of black harem pants, I won’t have to click through a bunch of skinny jeans to find them.

3. Fashion Inspirations

Instead of being ambushed with advertisements like most shopping sites, I was confronted with a myriad of fashion inspirations, including celebrities, style genres and fashion retailers. Every time I clicked on a different category, I was taken to a virtual boutique where I could view recommended items, as well as the subject’s likes and dislikes.

As someone who savors the opportunity to go shopping in a store, I’ve never been one for online shopping. But this new interactive approach may just turn me into a virtual shopping addict!
