I was fortunate enough to have my birthday coincide with Columbus day weekend – which means that we had today off! As a result, I was able to take a trip home to celebrate my 21st with my family and a few close friends from high school.
As my plane flew over the Blue Ridge Mountains as it neared the Asheville Airport, I was struck by the beauty of the place I call home.
Asheville, NC is considered an oasis by many and is overrun by tourists this time of the year who come to watch the leaves change in the mountains. I never really understood this until this weekend. When you live somewhere, it’s easy to take the beauty of your surroundings for granted.
