It’s the most wonderful time of the year again, and the hustle and bustle of holiday cheer is just beginning. Hot chocolate by the fire, laughing with friends and family, agressive honking created by taxi cabs, and cuss words heard every now and then by those always in a hurry. That is Christmas in New York City. A city full of life and lights, creates the most aesthetic Christmas one will ever see. From the Rocketts performing their annual Christmas show at Radio City, to the magical ice skating under the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, boredom is non existant in this city (but then again, boredom is never a thing in NYC). The brutally cold weather can be dealt with because all you really want to see is a Christmas Tree that makes all the tall buildings look like they belong in a ginger bread house. Red Starbucks cup are the hottest accesory in NYC this time of year, as well anything made with fur, which works for some, but others should just stick to the basic Starbucks look. New York City really has everything it takes to make the holidays a time of pure happiness. Try to ignore the frequent smell of trash and cigarette smoke, and focus on the Christmas lights that graze every corner and storefront. Horses trot up and down the street (mostly found in Central Park) carrying glamorous carriages filled with smiling families. The harsh tones of some new yorkers change around Christmas time, smiles appear on their faces, and the frowns go away. On the way to the infamous Rockefeller Center tree, the windows at Saks Fifth Avenue have a theme this year that adds a little glamour into the crowded stroll you take when the multi colored Christmas lights appear in the distance. Window shopping is a serious thing here, concidering the shirt on the mannequin could probably pay for a quarter of a students college tuition. The magical feeling that one gets when they enter the city that never sleeps during the holidays is something that everyone should experience at least once in their life. If the city life is not for you, thats okay! But no one should miss out on the happiness that takes over your body when the cold air hits your cheeks in one of the happiest places to spend Christmas.Â
