Something about this week has me dying to be home baking Christmas cookies. Maybe it’s due to the sugar high that I’ve been on while trying to make it through my finals alive. On the other hand, it never seems to feel like Christmas until all of the cookies are made. Baking cookies with my family is something that I look forward to every year. There are so many opportunities for memories to be made; whether it be a cooking disaster or simply cherishing the time spent with loved ones. I still remember the year that my brother decorated a reindeer cookie to look like it had been mauled by a dinosaur. It must be a boy thing…

Ever since my Pinterest obsession began, my love of baking has magnified by at least a thousand times. There are so many recipes and so little time. I simply cannot choose just one kind to make! These melting snowmen cookies are adorable.

Instead of worrying about getting the icing perfect, all you have to do is drizzle it on to look like it’s melting! No more worrying about covering the whole cookie! Additionally, they still allow for some creativity because you can decorate the snowmen (and women) however you want. All you need to make your own Frosty is any type of plain cookie, white icing, jumbo marshmallows, and various frostings and candies for decorating.

For the more adventurous and daring bakers, give these gems a try. These caramel white chocolate cookies look delicious. Plus, they aren’t the everyday cookies that can be found on everyone’s platter of sweets. Be unique and individual with these golden delights. Just one bite of these bad boys will leave you feeling happy and in the holiday spirit.

My mom always makes the most beautiful snowflake sugar cookies. She spends a lot of time putting all of the little details on them. They always look too pretty to eat. When I saw these gingerbread snowflakes, I thought of them as a new twist on an old family favorite. The rich maple color of the gingerbread is a perfect background for the white frosting. It makes the pattern pop. While I am not a huge fan of gingerbread, these cookies would probably be an exception to that preference.

For those of you who aren’t the cookie type, or you simply want an easier to make holiday treat, these peppermint marshmallows are perfect. Simply attach a jumbo marshmallow to a candy cane and then dip it into melting chocolate. For a final touch, add some crushed up candy canes to the chocolate as it dries. When I saw these sweet treats, my mind jumped to a mug of hot chocolate. How amazing would a cup of cocoa be with one of these melting in it? It would be the perfect combination of peppermint and marshmallow. It’s the best of both worlds.

All of these options are making my mouth water. I can’t wait to be home baking with my family. Don’t have anyone to bake with? Invite a bunch of friends over and make cookies together. Everyone can bring a different recipe and ingredients and you’re all set. Happy holidays and happy baking!

Hey everyone! I love to write and cry over episodes of One Tree Hill (don't judge). My favorite things to write about are fashion and music. I am definitely an animal and plant lover. I'm a South Bend native so in a way, Notre Dame has always been a part of my home.
