What do You Mean I Have Classes on Halloween?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PS Behrend chapter.

Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday, and I mean my absolute FAVORITE holiday. So when I found out that Halloween was on a Monday this year, I felt a little piece of my heart break. So what do you do with yourself when Halloween is on a Monday? How can someone like myself function when I have a full day’s worth of classes and all I want to do is binge watch scary movies and terrify my neighbors? But do not fret Collegiettes! For I have found some perfect ways to still get in the holiday spirit even when you feel like you sacrificed your soul for that tiny energy boost from your morning coffee.

Reward yourself after every class with a fun-sized candy bar for a little motivation and celebratory victory. Classes are tough enough without the holiday-blues, so take that extra second out of your day to give yourself a small pat on the back.

About to take that after class Netflix break? Replace it with an after class classic horror movie. Pop on The Exorcism, Halloween, Friday the 13th, or Rosemary’s Baby and go to town. Nothing calms the nerves and works as a better Halloween celebration than one of the classics.

Maybe even try out that cool Halloween makeup tutorial you’ve had saved for three months. Makeup is subtle enough that your professors wouldn’t mind, but it still helps you get into that celebratory state of mind. If makeup really isn’t your thing, try giving your nails a quick polish. Whether it be black and orange or full out intricate spider web designs, it is the perfect pop of spirit to remind you what day it is even on a Monday.

And if you somehow are able to finish your mounds of homework before 2 AM, you may even be able to go to a local haunted house. Grab your closest friends and get the soul spooked out of you for the last time before that clock strikes midnight and the grim reaper leaves his scythe on the graveyard steps.

And if you REALLY want to be spooked this October 31st, think about the crippling debt that are student loans… And on that note, have a happy Halloween!
