11 Things Extroverts Want You to Know

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stony Brook chapter.

1. We aren’t all super outgoing.

Just because we’re extroverts doesn’t mean we’re all socially confident and easygoing. Besides, not all introverts are super shy, right?

2. We’re not party animals 24/7.

We can appreciate a night in just as much as the next guy or gal.

3. Just because we talk a lot doesn’t mean we don’t know how to listen.

Yes, we know how to shut up, so you don’t have to ask us where our ‘off’ buttons are. That being said…

4. We actually want you to do the talking once in a while.

One-way conversations don’t cut it for us. They’re actually pretty annoying and we’d actually like to hear how your day was…with details!

5. We still know how to have meaningful conversations from time to time.

We can talk about more than just random observations and happenings. Meaningful conversations are quite enriching and we also have the capacity to appreciate them.

6. We won’t apologize for putting ourselves out there.

So if you think we’re annoyingly friendly, sorry, but not sorry.

7. Not all of us love being in the spotlight.

Sure, attention is cool and we definitely love being recognized from time to time, but not all of us will go out of our ways to hog a stage.

8. If we divulge our entire week to you in one minute and 15 seconds, don’t be alarmed.

Most of us have no problem getting into detailed conversations about ourselves with just acquaintances or peers. Of course, limits still exist, but giving detailed summaries that are actually stories is pretty much our superpower.

9. We appreciate spontaneity.

We don’t mind surprises here and there — as long as they’re good ones!

10. Do us a solid and at least try to have fun with us at public functions from time to time.

We know public functions aren’t your thing, but we’d go out of our way to do something you like doing that we may not.

11. We’re good at being impulsive.

It’s not that we forget to think about things thoroughly before acting; We can analyze everything and determine an awesome or crappy course of action in 0.5
