∆TF Sisters Kelly Diamond, Lizzie Sivitz & Caroline Yost

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Penn chapter.

Kelly Diamond (’13), Lizzie Sivitz (’13) and Caroline Yost (’15) are the original members of ∆TF, Penn’s hottest fictional sorority based off the comedy webseries Classless. After crashing Bid Night earlier this month, these hilarious sisters gave Her Campus the low down on their recruitment process and new pledge class.

How was ∆TF founded?

KD: I created the web series Classless, and since its creation I’ve been wanting to do some episodes about a fake sorority named ∆TF. It’s funny because F isn’t a Greek letter, so F stands for Feta.
LS: The F, meaning Feta, is the only reason it’s funny. ∆TF has no other intended meaning.

How did ∆TF prepare for rush?

LS: We ordered over 10,000 neon glow sticks, made so much soup and re-rented out the snake petting zoo.
KD: We also bought 300 t-shirts and new Uggs for every new biddie, which really put us in debt. Like, seriously in debt.
LS: I had to get a second mortgage.
KD: I owe like $10,000 to Money Tree.
CY: We figured the new biddies would pay us back. Then we got no new biddies.
LS: So, if you could help us out…?

Has ∆TF gotten any new members after Bid Night?

KD: Actually our video really helped. We have about 15 new baby members. We’re a big deal.
LS: 34th Street featured us on their Best Week at Penn.
KD: We did have the best week ever. We were trying to get 100 biddies, but 15’s good too.
LS: I think the most important thing is that people know who we are. When we were at Bid Night, one girl was like, “What sorority is that?” And you know, it just really hurts to have people not know your sorority at all. It’s like someone not knowing that the sun exists, and someone telling you that your main source of sustenance isn’t real. People just don’t know about the most important thing to me in my entire life, and that hurts. So I think just raising awareness is important.
CY: That made very little sense.
LS: I just have a lot of emotions about sisterhood.
KD: Now like 3,000 people know about the magic of DTF and that sisterhood is sistergood.
CY: That is like 1,000 times more than the number of people in the sorority before we made the video.

How do you like your new pledge class?

KD: You know, I was hoping for prettier girls. We wanted more fat girls, too.
LS: We’re really into fat girls.
CY: Guys, I’m not fat.

*Awkward silence*

LS: To be honest, when I heard we were colonizing, I thought we were gonna be invading and settling in foreign countries and seizing control of their governments and export markets. So I was on board for that, and then they were like, “No, we’re colonizing a sorority.”
CY: Is that a phrase? Colonizing a sorority?
KD: Yea, they colonize when they come to a new college. It’s really creepy.

What kind of traditions does ∆TF have?

KD: Well, powderpuff is our biggest event. We have a really good team this year. We’re hoping for the win. We got a new running back, you have no idea how good it is.
CY: Of course there’s pledging, but our pledging process is really secretive.
KD: Yeah, we can’t tell you about that.
CY: There’s a lot of hazing.
LS: Shut up!
CY: Sorry, I meant there’s a lot of grazing. Like we eat a lot of leafy vegetables and grasslands at sporadic intervals.
LS: This is all off the record, right?

What is ∆TF’s philanthropy?

KD: What’s a philanthropy? Do we do that? We should do that.
LS: Well, I was really into charity because I love making chairs—like crafting chairs out of wood—but then they were like, no Lizzie, that’s not right. I’m still learning.
CY: Also we work at a soup kitchen because we love soup.
KD: But they actually asked us to stop volunteering…
CY: We were just eating all of the soup.

What do you do for your little during big little week?

LS: We don’t really do the “big” and “little” thing. We think of ourselves as equal, so we’re all sister wives so to speak. And the sorority is our husband.
KD: Of course though, some people are more equal than others.
LS: We expect two nights a week with the husband. Everyone else just gets one.
CY: What?

Anything else?

LS: We’re really happy with the reception that ∆TF has gotten, and everyone at Bid Night really welcomed us with dirty looks that were filled with happiness and kindness.
KD: Amy Gutmann is our #1 recruit.
LS: If Amy sees this article, we would really love her to come to one of our events and be our best friend.
KD: What’s our next event?
LS: We’re going to make the world’s largest pot of soup.
KD: See you there, Am!
