This week’s campus celebrity goes to one of the best athletes to have come out from Cal: soccer superstar Alex Morgan.Â
Morgan was born in Diamonds Bar, Ca and attended Diamond Bar High School, where she was named an NSCAA All-American for playing soccer.

In 2007, Morgan was drafted to UC Berkeley where she played soccer. Morgan, a leading scorer, finished her collegiate career ranked third all-time in goals scored and points for the Golden Bears.Â

Morgan graduated in December of 2010, a full semester early, with a degree in Political Economy. During her time with the Golden Bears, Morgan was chosen to be part of the U.S. national team (2008 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and then the senior team).Â

Alex Morgan besides being a famous soccer player is also an Olympic gold medalist. In 2012, Morgan was named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year and was a finalist for FIFA Player of the Year.

Fun Facts: Alex teamed up with Simon & Schuster to write a middle-grade book series entitled The Kicks. Morgan also appeared in the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
