6 Types of Fidget Toys for College Students

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.

Fidget toys are adult toys that function to help the user focus, pay attention and calm down in the classroom, at work and home situations. Originally fidget toys were made for children with focus-based learning problems. However, in the past couple of years, these toys have been modified so that adults can now use them too. Here are a few common examples of fidget toys:

1. Fidgeting Foot Bands

Price: $3.99

Fidgeting foot bands are great for people who have trouble keeping their feet still. The foot bands are resistance bands that you place around your chair’s legs or around the table’s legs so that you can push, pull or kick these bands.

2. Wacky Tracks Klixx Toy

Price: $4.99

Although this toy is marketed for children, it’s a great alternative to expensive fidget toys. It is easily bent, shaped and clicked into many different fun shapes. The Klixx toy provides a great outlet for those who need something to do with their hands to focus on a task at hand.

3. FidgetWorks Rollie Pollie Fidget Toy

Price: $12.00

The rollie pollie toy allows you to push in the gears so it moves in an almost mechanical fashion. Its simple design allows for easy and quiet play for hours. It is perfect for students since it can be used in the classroom without being a distraction.

4. Fidget cube

Price: $23.99

The fidget cube is a 6-sided cube, which comes in a variety of colors, where each side has a different action that can be performed on it. The six sides are spin, switch, click, roll and click, stone and toggle. Each of these sides is able to satisfy different types of nervous movements. It is great for everyday use; in the classroom, office and at home.

5. Think ink pen

Price: $49.99

The Think Ink Pen helps people to focus but at a pretty high price. The pen has a removable pen clip that can bend, spin around the axis of the pen and the ball on the top and it also transforms for users who only want it to work a certain way. This fidget toy is probably best suited for home or office use due to the spinning feature which does tend to make noise.

6. Maelstrom Spinner from Flyaway Toys

Price: $119.00

Yes, you read the price correctly. This is one of the most expensive fidget toys I could find and is made out of stainless steel and brass. For the price it has a very simple purpose, it keeps your fingers busy by spinning the metal object.

As you can see, fidget toys range from very inexpensive objects to very expensive with each having their own unique way of making the user focus on the task at hand. If fidgeting has ever been a problem of yours, maybe try out one of these types of toys the next time you get the itch to fidget.
