As the school year trudges on and all that schoolwork seems to be piling higher and higher, it sometimes seems like there aren’t enough hours in the day to finish everything on your to-do list. When I get busy and days like these begin to mash together in my frazzled brain, I find myself beginning to lose sight of what’s important.
Stress is real and hard. “Going through the motions” and just waiting for the weekend can be a developing and engrained habit for young (and all) adults, but it’s no fun! Why waste your time waiting for tomorrow when today is yours? Sure, we all get busy and overwhelmed at times, but we should always make a point to stay in touch with ourselves as an alternative to losing ourselves in our work by remembering the bigger things in life; what makes you happy.
I was beginning to lose myself in my work this week, so I stopped for a bit, took some time for myself, and thought about a few things that make me happy, like…
1. Crabs. Yum.
2. First days of school!
3. Trips out with friends.
4. Tiny bananas.
5. When Snapchat filters don’t work.
Â
6. When Snapchat filters DO work.
7. Sunny days.
8. Ice cream dates!
9. Discovering new places.
10. Little things.
11. My Her Campus family.
12. Spreading love.
It’s so important to recognize when you’re working too much or too hard; don’t let day after day fly by unfulfilled. Remember the things that bring you happiness and then make time for whatever that is. You always deserve a break and you always deserve to be happy.
