Her Campus’s 20 Favorite Flats For Fall

They are your back-up shoes when your heels are killing your feet and you need something fancier than sneakers. Flats are every girl’s go-to pair of shoes. They are relaxed enough to wear to class but you can also slip them on when going out with your friends. The flat shoe could very well be considered the angel of footwear. Her Campus searched for the top 20 perfect flats for fall, and consolidated them to create this heavenly list:

The Classic Flat– I would be a fool if I didn’t feature the newest classic flat, the Tory Burch flats.   Though expensive, they last for years, can go with any outfit, and come in every color you can imagine.

Tory Burch, $195

You’re Not in Kansas Anymore– A girl has to have a pair of sparkly, over-the-top flats for a night out with the girls, a first date dinner, or a stroll on Madison Avenue.  These Dorothy lookalike flats by Steve Madden come in gold, silver and black.

Steve Madden, $69.95

A Little Bit Wild– These classic J. Crew flats with a little leopard twist are perfect for wearing to class or lunch with the girls. They harmonize perfectly with a heavy sweater and a pair of leggings or even jeans.

J. Crew, $248.00

Oxford Street– Flats don’t have to be as traditional as J.Crew or Tory Burch flats. Oxford flats like these Urban Outfitters oxfords are a new trend for fall. Go over the top with a matte shoe, or more traditional with a rich brown or black.

Urban Outfitters, $48.00

Pointy Chic– Pointy black flats are perfect for any going-out outfit. They are very comfortable and if you choose the right ones they can definitely replace a pair of pointy high-heeled pumps.

Nine West, $49.99

Wrap Around Trendy– This season, wrap-around flats are the new up and coming trend with stores like Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue stocking up. These Nordstrom studded flats are perfect tucked into skinny jeans worn with a white t-shirt, or dressed up with a high-waisted skirt.

Nordstrom, $74.95

Ruffles Galore– These Corso Como flats have ruffled touches that are lined with zipper. They are even eco-friendly, using all reusable materials, and can easily go with from day to night.

Corso Como, $99

Minnetonka Madness– The most comfortable flats on this list have to be these Minnetonka moccasins. They are the perfect “running late for class” shoes. Wear them with leggings, jeans, or even dress them up with a frock. You can buy these shoes in any funky or neutral color you could ask for, and with or without any embroidery, beading, or detail.

Minnetonka, $35.00

Sailors Delight– These adorable Sperry Topsiders, or boat shoes as I call them, are not reserved for sailors only. Perfect for daywear (and of course sailing), they come in all colors including metallics and animal prints.

Sperry Topsiders, $59.00

Twinkle Toes– Ballet-inspired flats aren’t just worn in the dance studio. You can wear them anywhere, anytime! These affordable Old Navy ballet flats are a perfect substitute for fancy heels. Whether worn dressed down or dressed up, these flats provide many options.

Old Navy, $6.97 for Gold and $9.97 for Silver and Pink

The Flat Sneaker– Although these Keds skimmers can be confused with sneakers, these fun shoes are considered flats.  They’re Keds without being sneakers, what a concept! These unique skimmers have a lucky rabbit foot pattern that will give you luck during the day.

Keds, $60

Bowtastic– Want a pair of structured flats with a little bit of a twist? Then these Yellowbox flats are perfect for you. The bejeweled bows make these plain flats extraordinary.

Aiko, $61.90

Fancy Flats– If you are sick of the traditional flats and are in the mood for a different style, go with these Unisa flats. These flats have two tiny straps with studs. They are perfect with a cute frock, or if you don’t want to show the straps you can wear these shoes with jeans for winter.

Unisa, $69

Be a Mouseketeer– I remember as a child my favorite pair of flats were a pair of flats that looked like ladybugs (it was the cool thing to wear flats with an animal theme). Well now, you still can. Although these flats are more expensive, there probably won’t be any others on campus like them.

Marc by Marc Jacobs, $238

Floral Footwear– If you have ever read my articles, you know my obsession with florals. These floral shoes are super cute and absolutely perfect for the fall semester, and it doesn’t hurt that they fit into a college girl’s budget.

Forever 21, $16.80

Hollywood Elegance– If you admire the style of old Hollywood movie stars then you’ll definitely love these patent leather buckle flats with a tiny heel.  These timeless flats are perfect for any fancy events or if you simply like to just dress up for class.

DSW, $29.95

Literally Ballet Flats– I don’t mean to add a cliché to this list, but legitimate ballet flats are the best kind of flats in my opinion. But while fabulous, they offer no support, so they’re probably best for lounging around your dorm room.

Capezio, $13.95

Peep-Toed Craze– You don’t have to buy Project Runway’s Christian Siriano’s expensive shoes designs. Christian Siriano has designed a shoe line that is very affordable.  These peep-toed flats are gorgeous and look like runway quality.

Christian Siriano for Payless Shoes, $15.99

Salmon Pink Perfect– These flats are the finishing touch for that preppy outfit. These Lacoste flats come in neutral colors like black and camel but also aqua and salmon pink.

ASOS, $59.96

Bling Bling– Every college girl needs a bling bling in her closet. Vera Wang came out with a classic peep-toed silhouette that has the perfect amount of bling that’s perfect for dress up, or if you’re really daring just wear them to class!

Vera Wang Lavender Label, $275.00
