When asked if I have any hobbies, I always say “I don’t have one”. But I definitely have one (an expensive one) buying Kpop albums. With each album going for at least $20-25 each, it’s become a very expensive hobby.Â
Aside from supporting your favorite artists, there’s something so fun and addicting about buying Kpop albums. When artists release new albums, they usually have multiple versions of the same album. With each different version, there’s a different theme or style to it. Collecting every single one is so fun and it’s amazing to see it line up on your shelves.
For example, BTS’s Love Yourself albums each have different themes for each. The side of each album also has a different letter. So when you collect them all and line them up, it’ll say “LOVE YOURSELF”!! Isn’t that amazing?!
Photocards are also a huge reason as to why Kpop stans collect albums. It’s such a thrill to open up a new album and pull your bias. Depending on the group (the size of the group and how many photocards they put into each album), the chances of you pulling your bias is either higher or lower.
If you happen to not pull your bias’s photocard, you can definitely trade with someone who has your bias. With photocards, the Kpop industry also has created photocard holders for you to display them in or to show off on your bag. They know how to take our money!!!
I could go more into depth about Kpop album collecting but I feel like that should be done when I actually finish my collection. I’m maybe halfway there, or a little more than halfway, so I’ve still got a way to go!
