For context, if you were on the internet in the past couple of days, you know that former Buzzfeed employee Ned Fulmer was confirmed cheating on his wife with a coworker. Now cheating on your partner is horrible, but I do not think the internet would have reacted this much if Ned did not base his entire personality around his wife and being married.
I am familiar with Ned Fulmer because I was slightly obsessed with Buzzfeed when I was 13, but I have not followed him or other former employees. After departing from Buzzfeed, he and three other employees: Keith Habersberger, Zach Kornfeld, and Eugene Lee, started a separate brand called the “Try Guys,” based on the content they made while at Buzzfeed. I am not particularly invested in the topic, but I want to try to provide more information, primarily via funny tweets I found.
So at first, it was only rumored that Ned cheated on his wife, and no one wanted to accept it because, as I said before, his entire personality WAS HIS WIFE. People were more confused because no one addressed the situation, and Ned was unbothered.
Shortly after, the Try Guys stated that they would cut ties with Fulmer and that he would no longer be working with him, which sent the internet into a frenzy. This situation is developing, but it was revealed that Ned has been cheating on his wife for some time now. But OG Buzzfeed employees seem to not be as shocked by this news as they state he was sketchy.
People are shocked by the news and hope it is not true.
But unfortunately, I do not think this was fabricated drama for content. This situation is still developing as more information comes to light. But it seems like The Try Guys are rebranding, and many viewers support their decision.
Ned also made a statement about his “consensual workplace relationship,” which made me roll my eyes. But at the end of the day, he let down his wife, children, and coworkers/friends. He also has dampened his public image, which is unfortunate.
I just keep thinking about how Adam Levine must be relieved that most of the attention is off his back.
