Got Midterm Anxiety? These 14 Products Can Help

The Her Campus National Editors write about products we love and think you’ll love too. Her Campus has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase. All products are in stock and all prices are accurate as of publication.

Midterm season is, unfortunately, the band aid you have to rip off before you can indulge in the antics of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. To put it frankly, this time of year really freaking sucks. However, more stress equals more justification to buy things. (Who doesn’t love a little bit of stress-induced shopping?) Think of it as a reward for all of your hard work!

The way I see it, if you’re going to spend money, at least make it economical. It’s study season, after all, so investing in some self-care, makeup, or stationery products can prove to be useful during this stressful time. If you’re looking to make your shopping addiction a bit more economical this midterm season, check out these 14 products curated specifically to help combat midterm anxiety, all running the gamut from food to skincare to products that encourage rest and relaxation. Pull out your debit card and let’s take a study break.

Muji Pens

In this world, not all pens are created equal. Muji brand pens ($12) are the smoothest and slickest gel pens to ever exist, TBH, and they’re perfect for color-coordinating your notes and agenda.

Journal

I mean, those pens have got to write in something, right? I prefer using Moleskine brand journals ($22) — not only do they look oh-so-official, but they also smell really good (just trust me on this one).

Essential Oils

The Saje Pocket Farmacy essential oils ($65) are perfect stress alleviators to help you combat midterm anxiety. You can also use a diffuser to allow the oils to permeate through your bedroom, allowing for a great and relaxing night of sleep.

Eye Mask

Speaking of getting a good night’s rest, heated eye masks, like these from Cornea Care ($35), are perfect for when you can’t sleep. Maybe that’s because you chugged coffee at 9 p.m. to finish an essay that you actually ended up completing earlier than expected, but hey, we’ve all been there.

Calm Subscription

While we’re on the subject of rest and relaxation, a Calm subscription can assist you in achieving both of these things. While a subscription costs $69.99 a year, the site also provides a free 7-day trial, which should conveniently last you for the entire midterm week.

Candles

Having a candle ($27) lit while you’re studying means serious go-time. I don’t know what it is about that flickering flame that screams “let’s-do-a-10-page-book-report”!

Large Water Bottle

Even if you’re studying in the comfort of your own home, having a large water bottle ($27) on hand is a great investment because it limits the number of trips to the kitchen you need to take to retrieve water and ice. Can’t have anything interrupting your studies, now!

DoorDash Gift Card

If you’re feeling kind during this hellish week, sending a DoorDash gift card to a friend is sure to make their dull week a little brighter. Plus, it’s perfect for this time of year — who has time to even move during midterm week?

Frozen Meals

Sometimes, you just can’t justify spending $20 on an order that would cost you $8 if you were to pick it up. Frozen foods are a wonderful option if you want to eat but you don’t want to cook, and you’re also ballin’ on a budget. I especially love the ones from Trader Joe’s because they come in large portions, meaning that you don’t have to go up and “cook” anything for at least a day.

Breakout Serum

I don’t know about you, but for me, stress definitely triggers some crazy acne. Luckily, the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Serum ($29) helps to diminish acne. Just put this on before bedtime for clean pores in the morning!

Concealer

You may want to look like you got a full eight hours of sleep, even though you really got two. To keep you looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed — because why should that cutie in your 8 a.m. believe anything otherwise? — the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Radiant Concealer ($33) can help.

Men’s Boxers

These Fruit Of The Loom boxers ($18) are my holy grail. These babies are not only comfy, but super trendy! And PSA: It’s entirely socially acceptable to wear boxers to class if you have an early morning test and play it off as your own take on the “model-off-duty” style.

Large Wall Calendar

If you’re a visual learner, having a large wall calendar, like this one from ubrand ($13) is a great way to hold yourself accountable. You can’t exactly forget to do your assignments if they’re staring right back at you in your own handwriting.

Energy Drinks

My energy drink of choice is Celsius ($22) because you can buy a 12 (or 24) pack on Amazon and have it arrive to you the next day. I joined the Celcius wave after learning that one little can has 200 milligrams of caffeine, making them the best bang for your buck. A little boost of caffeine can help you get through a bit more studying, which will hopefully help kick stress about your test to the curb.
