I want your midnights! How to celebrate the release of Taylor Swift’s 10th Album!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Coastal Carolina chapter.

After years of anticipation and speculating, Taylor Swift’s 10th Studio Album is finally coming! On October 21, 2022, fans will be able to listen to the long-awaited Midnights. The album tells the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout the artist’s life. If you’re looking for ways to celebrate its release, we’ve got you covered!

Rewatch Midnights Mayhem with Me

In a series of TikToks posted to her official account, Taylor announced the tracklist using bingo balls. The Midnights Mayhem with Me series began on September 21st with track 13, titled “Mastermind”. The schedule of one track being announced at, fittingly, midnight every following Monday, Wednesday, Friday. On October 7th, she proposed mayhem til the morning by announcing the final 5 tracks. Among these announcements came the news that Track 4, “Snow on the Beach” would be featuring fellow artist Lana Del Ray. Familiarize yourself with the tracklist and ‘claim’ your potential favorites! Personally, I’m claiming “Lavender Haze” and “Midnight Rain”.

Bake Chai Cookies

For a fun snack to enjoy while listening to Midnights, whip up a batch of chai cookies! Taylor uses a classic sugar cookie recipe from Joy the Baker and adds a bag of chai tea leaves for a twist. This recipe is also great for anyone looking for a new seasonal favorite. For an added bonus, top your cookies with some blue sprinkles or cut them into cat shapes!

Listen to Taylor’s Other Albums

While we wait impatiently, you can use the time to brush up on her other 9 albums! Whether you’re a fan of the ‘Country Taylor’ we met in 2006 with her debut album, ‘Pop Taylor’ from the 1989 era, or ‘Indie Folk Taylor’ from sister albums Folklore and Evermore, she truly has something for everyone. This would also be a great opportunity to make your Midnights predictions or a bracket to determine your favorite Taylor Swift song. There are many ways to rank her songs including the infamous Jessee Pinkman Song Sorter and Tiermaker ranker.

Watch Her Films

Taylor has tried her hand at acting a few times in films such as Valentine’s Day, The Giver, and Cats. For this list, however, we will be focusing on the films about herself. In 2018, she released a recorded performance of her sold out Reputation Stadium Tour. This offers the feeling of attending the concert for those who could not attend and those who want to relive it forever. She also released a documentary titled Miss Americana in 2020. The documentary follows the journey of making her 7th Studio album, Lover, and fully embracing her feminsit and political views. Miss Americana and the Reputation Stadium Tour are available through Netflix. The final film, Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions, tells the story of rewriting her 8th album Folklore amidst a global pandemic. The Long Pond Sessions can be found on Disney Plus. Each film also includes some great performances from their respective albums and beyond!

Throw a Midnights Listening Party

If you have a group of friends who also love all things Taylor Swift, you could throw a Midnights listening party. Invite everyone over at midnight, make snacks, dress up as your favorite era, and listen to the album. You could even decorate your place with moon and star themed decor, complete with a mirrorball. There is a plethora of listening party inspiration out there, so get to planning!

Whether you’re staying up till midnight to listen the second it drops, or waiting to celebrate, we hope you have an enchanting October 21st!
