The Best Pinterest Recipes for Your Next Halloween Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

When it comes to Halloween, everyone loves the costumes, the decorations and the movies, but what about the treats? I know this holiday doesn’t have a traditional set cuisine aside from candy, but there are so many great recipes you can make to get you in the Halloween spirit. So, I scoured Pinterest and compiled a list of the easiest and cutest recipes for you to make for yourself, your friends or any party you may be attending this spooky season. I will try to link as many recipes and reference photos as possible, but these recipes should be easy to find on the Pinterest website in case of emergency.

The great thing about these recipes is most of them are only two to three ingredients and take minimal prep time, so they’re super quick and easy to make. This means you don’t have to worry about your cooking skills, or lack thereof, to recreate them.

First off, we are going to start with all the savory treats because dessert always comes last. For a quick appetizer, you can make witch’s brooms which consist of string cheese, pretzel sticks and chives. All you must do is cut your string cheese into three two-inch segments and cut vertical strands into the cheese half an inch from the top to represent the bristles of a broomstick. Then, make a small incision at the top of your cheese to insert the pretzel stick. Tie your chive around the cheese, while cutting off any excess, to form your broomstick.

Another classic Halloween recipe is the mummy dog which is just thin strips of crescent roll wrapped around a hot dog to replicate the wraps of a mummy with ketchup or mustard eyes. A healthier recipe would be to buy red pepper hummus, which you can dye with food coloring if it is not orange enough, and spread it out on a plate. Use the back of a spoon to create ridges in the hummus like a pumpkin and top it with a cucumber stem. You can serve this with crackers or veggies.

Our last hearty recipe is Jack-O-Lantern quesadillas, which are easy to make. Simply carve a Jack-O-Lantern face into your top tortilla and bake them in the oven so the cheese doesn’t fall out. This is a simple but delicious recipe that will wow all of your friends!

Now, onto the sweet treats. I think this is my personal favorite recipe: bloody gut cinnamon rolls. First, you’re going to unravel all your cinnamon rolls until they form long strips. Arrange them in a twisted and curvy manner in a pan. If you’re only using one packet of cinnamon rolls, I suggest using a smaller baking dish because you want them to be tight, almost touching the pan. Then, bake them according to their directions and dye the pre-packaged icing red, so it resembles blood. They will end up looking very similar to intestines, but I’m sure they taste a lot better.

Our next recipe is spider cookies. Attach a mini Reese’s peanut butter cup on top of a chocolate chip cookie. Whether it’s store-bought or homemade, it’ll be just fine. Then, using more melted chocolate, pipe eight legs on the cookie and attach two candy eyes to the peanut butter cup. This will create the cutest spider cookie you’ve ever seen.

This last one is for people who truly want a zero-effort recipe. All you have to do is cut a banana into three segments. You don’t need the middle so you can eat that as a snack. Pop two chocolate chips in the banana towards the pointy end to form a boo-nana ghost.

There are so many more fun and easy Halloween recipes on Pinterest that I didn’t get the chance to include, so I highly recommend looking there for more inspiration. I hope you enjoyed these recipes and maybe even make them for your next Halloween party. With that, I wish you all a happy Halloween with no tricks and all treats!
