I have always been a sucker for Disney Channel Original Movies. When October rolled around back in the early 2000s and 2010s, you know I was in front of my television watching every Disney Channel Halloween movie premiere. As someone who is terrified of horror movies, these themed films are usually a part of my Halloween movie rewatch. Here is my definitive ranking of my favorite Halloween Disney Channel Original Movies…
The 2015 Disney Channel Original Movie, was a fun film starring Rowan Blanchard and Paris Berelc. The film follows one popular sister turning invisible, while the more nerdy sister has to act in her place to get through Halloween. It is a sweet film about sisterhood with a talented cast for Disney Channel.Â
Twitches is a Tia and Tamera Classic. The spooky tale shares the story of two twin sisters separated at birth. On their 21st birthday, they reunite and their magical powers ignite. Comedic events ensue as they try to find their birth mom again and reunite with their homeland.Â
Halloweentown is a classic Halloween movie. It is about a young girl, Marnie, who finds out she is a witch. She is taken under the wing of her grandma, who is also a witch. Debbie Reynolds plays Marnie’s grandmother, and her performance makes the movie so special and comforting. All of the movies are great, except for the last, where a new actress replaced Marnie. Overall, it is super nostalgic for the early 2000s.Â
2. Zombies SeriesÂ
I am a Zombies apologist. People may love to hate this movie, but I love everything about it. The actors, the costumes, the songs, and the ridiculousness of it, I simply love it all. It is about a cheerleader who starts falling for a zombie, who starts at her new high school. It is so silly and the antics are so strange between the zombies and the cheerleaders.Â
Girl V.S. Monster is a movie I rewatch every Halloween season. Olivia Holt and Luke Benward’s acting may not be the best, but it is very nostalgic of the early 2010s Disney Channel era. It is a film about a teenager (Olivia Holt), who discovers her parents are monster hunters. She faces fear for the first time in her life at age 16 and must stop her and her friends’ monsters from terrorizing them. The songs are fun and overall the movie is very nostalgic for me.
