Halloween is just around the corner and many are having parties so here are some awesome tips to having the best Halloween party possible.Â
Decorations- They don’t have to be difficult. Instagram and Pinterest have many ideas and suggestions. I came across Tara Testa -Bidwell of Lady Bidwell Designs on Instagram. She has some simple, economic friendly but awesome ideas that incorporate decor and food. This includes spiders in ice cubes and a mini jack o lantern that looks like it has guacamole or an abandoned type spread coming out of its mouth onto a serving platter.Â
Drinks- Instead of keeping track of who is what age at a party check out The Free Spirits company. It has the taste of alcohol without the actual alcohol. According to The Free Spirits Company website, “Instead of Alcohol, we infuse each of our products with vitamins B3, B6 and natural Aminos like Taurine.”Their flavors include The Spirit of Bourbon, The Spirit of Gin and The Spirit of Tequila. If your party is 21+ try mixing half liquor and half The Free Spirits Company.Â
The Mood- Lighting is everything. Stores like Target carry orange and purple twinkle/fairy lights. The prices are reasonable ranging from $5-$15.Â
Music- Spotify is a great way to Halloween themed music but don’t discount YouTube. There are some great Halloween soundtracks from songs to haunted noise. It’s a great, and easy way, to have a good time!Â
The host: Ok, ok so with all that planning you can’t forget about making you look awesome for Halloween. While cat ears certainly work you can do so much better in technicolor nonetheless. Bright colors are the thing so check out Monteverde Cloud Forest Palette as It includes 12 mattes and six shimmers shades. As well as their FĂŞtes de Provence Palette is has 10 mattes and 5 shimmers including pink, purple, a purple with gray tones, a yellow and an orange with yellow tones.Â
The colors are highly pigmented and smooth to apply. It makes getting ready a snap! Â
Personally I love the rainbow cheetah look. It is a 2-step look. All you need is a black eye liner and colorful shades. I find it easier to apply the color first otherwise you do have to then touch it up with the eyeliner at the end but it’s easy either way. Applying a base or shadow primer first is recommended but with this shadow palette it’s not needed. In the size of a dime apply a variety of colors to your face, don’t forget your neck. Then, draw non-uniform half circles with a black eyeliner, I find a felt tip works the best.
If that isn’t your style pair a witches hat to a green eye shadow look.Â
First you need to apply Lightest green on the inside of your eye, near the bridge of your nose, medium green in the middle and darker green in the crease and blend.
For a extra punch, use shimmer shadows Green Mountain or Wildlife Wonderland in the center of your eyelid and as a highlighter on the apple of your cheeks and swipe towards your ear.
Don’t forget about your hair- Hally Hair Hally’s Color Cloud is a foaming hair dye that washes out in four to eight weeks. Hally is ammonia sulfate and paraben-free but they are vegan. They are also sold at Ulta. They recently released a new line of Shade Sticks as well. It is described as temporary hair makeup.
If you’re going for less of a dance party and more of a scary movie party check out last week’s article! But, here are a couple more horrific Halloween movies:
Apparition. This is one of my favorite scary films. Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes – Captain America:Winter Soldier, Pam & Tommy ) and Tom Felton (Harry Potter) are absolutely amazing in this thriller it’s scary and intriguing and the end isn’t what you’d think.
Dead Silence. Donny Wahlberg (Blue Bloods) head this movie. Imagine a marionette mixed with a little Annabelle (a series about a terrifyingly haunted doll) but the twist is beyond twisted; don’t say I didn’t warn you.Â
Lastly, The Deep House. It is one of the most terrifying movies I ever saw. It follows Jake Jagger (sound of violence) and CamilleÂ
(Cosmic Dawn) as two almost-famous YouTubers who do underwater (and land) exploration of abandoned locations. Don’t let the familiar trope of going to an secluded with a strange man trope. The music plus the underwater factor makes it terrifying.Â
I love horror and I still can’t make it through the movie in one sitting- even if it is during the the day with the lights turned up.Â
I hope these help you to have the best Halloween.
