Starbucks Rewards and Delta SkyMiles have partnered together to bring members of both programs new benefits and experiences. By linking both accounts, members can earn one mile per every $1 spent at Starbucks and double stars on days when they have a Delta flight.
By Dec. 31, you can earn 150 stars and 500 miles when you link both accounts as part of a bonus of the program. Both currently enrolled and new members of the companiesâ loyalty programs are eligible for this new benefit.
This new partnership will bring benefits to both Deltaâs and Starbucksâ loyalty program members and is an initiative that is ârewarding members with more of what they love,â said Ryan Butz, vice president of loyalty strategy and marketing at Starbucks. âWeâre continuing to evolve Deltaâs SkyMiles program to give our customers valuable, premium experiences not just on the days they travel but in their everyday lives as well,â said Vice President of Loyalty at Delta, Prashant Sharma. âThrough this new partnership with Starbucks, we can deliver more moments and interactions that matter, both in the air and on the ground.â This is just one of many partnerships that Delta has come into, as they already let members earn miles with Airbnb, Lyft, Instacart and through its co-branded cards with American Express.
Delta SkyMiles program allows members to earn miles for flying Main Cabin or above and on everyday purchases. Members can use these miles towards travel on any Delta Airlines flight, toward a Delta Vacations package with no blackout dates or for rewards like upgrades and premium drinks at Delta Sky Club. Delta SkyMiles is free to join, the miles do not expire, and you can travel to over 1,000 destinations with Delta Airlines. Along with the newest list of Choice Benefits that have been announced in previous weeks, Diamond and Platinum SkyMiles Members have the choice to select 4,000 Stars as one of their annual Choice Benefits in 2024.
Loyalty programs have become more important for airlines, particularly during the pandemic, when travel slumped. Starbucks has also said that its loyalty program helps lift sales. Delta marks Starbucksâ first U.S. partner in their new Reward Together program. The Starbucks Reward program, which was introduced in 2009, continues to grow in popularity and offers members free rewards, personalized offers, games, exclusive deals and the ability to order ahead and pay on the app.
More and more, companies have launched numerous partnerships with the aim to increase sales and garner awareness towards their loyalty programs. Travel was deeply impacted by the pandemic and has seen a dramatic increase in travelers recently. Over the past few months, travel has reached record-breaking numbers since the pandemic, and those rates are not slowing anytime soon.
With the recent uptick in travel, this program allows you to work towards more miles when you are not traveling and helps you gain stars through the trips you take. A Starbucks trip is always necessary in the airport and while traveling, so this new program is a win-win for everyone.
