One reason why I moved to London was the fact it is impossible to get bored here. There is so much to do; every day there is a new event or a grand opening and that’s why I love it here. We are entering colder days when London can look clean and crisp. I am writing this day plan to recommend some of my favourite things to do on an autumnal weekend day in London.

On this day, you’d like to start by heading to Regent’s Park tube station. For me, any perfect day must involve a lot of food. So, of course, this day would begin with a croissant. However basic it sounds, I could never pass up a chocolate croissant from Pret A Manger, so yummy! I would take this to go with a cup of tea. I would then spend the next few hours strolling through Regent’s Park, which is my favourite park in London. The variety astonishes me, from walking through flower beds, to seeing the dogs sprinting around in the big fields and of course being able to walk up Primrose Hill to see the wonderful sights of London. Did I mention the dogs!? Every time I go, I must go up to at least 5 dogs and make a big fuss of them. I think this is a great morning activity as you can people-watch and get some fresh air – a perfect start to the day!

You can walk from Regent’s Park towards the King’s Cross area (this takes about 25 minutes). By King’s Cross, there is a selection of shops, cafes, and restaurants in an area called Coal Drops Yard. This is a wonderful, clean and stylish area. There is something for everyone and there are often different events held here, so have a search to see what tickles your fancy! I would try out a new restaurant for lunch here. From lunch, I would walk to the canal by Coal Drops Yard where you can find one of London’s most unique bookshops ‘Word on the Water’, which is a bookshop on a canal boat. This is a perfect hidden treasure, you can find old and new books. There are sofas inside and a wood-burning fireplace too, which adds to the charm. There are often live musicians playing on the top of the barge. Even if you are not a book nerd like me, I’d highly recommend a visit to this wonderful gem in the heart of London.

Now, I am a typical 19-year-old whereby my perfect day must involve cocktails. One of my favourite places for this is the chain of bars around London called ‘Simmons’, they do the most delicious cocktails. They also have great happy hour deals. During happy hour you can get a teapot, (yes, a teapot!), filled with a refreshing cocktail for £15 – where can you go wrong with that?! The atmosphere in these bars is electric and modern with an old charm twist. I’d highly recommend. The ending of the perfect day for me would include being snuggled in bed with a McDonald’s and watching Gilmore Girls (by 10:30, of course!).

I hope this has given you an idea of how you can spend a varied day in London. Treat yourself by seeing what the city has to offer.

Carys is completing her final year at KCL studying neuroscience (its as gross as it sounds). After graduating, Carys intends to continue her studies by completing a master’s in clinical neuroscience to get her one step closer to going into dementia research. (After travelling the world) Carys spends all her time reading and eating. She will NOT shut up about a good book and she will spend all her money on cinnamon buns (she’s trying to find the best one in London) She likes flexing that she surfed at Bondi beach and that she touched Jason Derulo.
