It is that time of year again: the holiday season. While it’s slowly approaching us, it may be time to go gift shopping. Presents are already expensive as it is, but these gift ideas and suggestions won’t break your wallet. Most people might think that the more expensive the gift is, the better it is — but that’s not true. What really matters is the genuineness and thoughtfulness behind the gift.
Not everyone has lots of money to spare on holiday gifts or decorations. To ease that financial burden, here are some ideas and suggestions that are affordable and perfect for year-round events. Not only will these gift ideas help ease financial stress, but they will also help you choose what gift to get for your loved ones. You can’t go wrong with these gift ideas.
- Money/Gift Cards
-
This is the top-tier gift, one that elicits a guaranteed positive outcome, no matter the monetary amount. It means less money the other person has to spend on the thing they want most, all thanks to you! This gift comes in a variety of forms, including gift cards, cash, and payment apps such as Zelle. Gift cards, specifically ones to their favorite store, really show how much you pay attention to them — which makes this an absolutely heart-warming gift.
- Items From Discount Stores
-
As said before, the price of a gift does not define its overall quality. But, there are stores that sell typically expensive products for cheaper. If there is a specific expensive item that’s on your friend’s wishlist, going to these stores can make buying the gift achievable. Stores such as Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Burlington, and Nordstrom Rack are all good places to look at. You also can’t go wrong with Target and Walmart, which usually have a section dedicated to holiday shopping, and gifts that are perfect for anyone! A store that I have not mentioned, but is absolutely the best go-to, in my opinion, is Five Below. The name says it all: everything is five dollars and below. You will be able to get anything that you are looking for and at a good price!
- DIY Gifts
-
If you want to give an extra special gift, you can make it! You can go Dollar Tree, Target, Walmart, or thrift stores to get affordable arts and crafts supplies. Or, you can use anything in your home — it is DIY for a reason! Making a letter or drawing a picture are a couple of good ways to go about a DIY gift. Making something that you’re sure your gift recipient will love is perfect. Another DIY gift idea is decorating one of your gift recipient’s belongings, with their permission of course (or if you know they want it decorated). This can be their journal, electronics cases, bedroom, or anything else of theirs with a plain surface.
- Genuine Act(s) of Service
-
This is a perfect gift for someone who is going through a lot, which is totally normal. You can be the one to help out and let them know that they are not alone. As you may know, acts of service is one of the five love languages, which makes this gift even more special. Giving gifts is also another love language! Combining the both is extra, extra special, I promise.Â
The acts of service can be helping with cleaning, cooking, or doing some of their usual activities. This can also be doing things as a surprise, like making their favorite food (the BEST), planning a trip to a place they have been wanting to go, or buying their favorite go-to drink everyday for a week. These are some great ways to offer acts of service. Also, here is a great article for more ideas of acts of service!
