With the end of Bryant University’s Greek Week 2023, Her Campus wanted to give the readers a peek into Greek life’s Presidents. We have interviewed the eight Presidents of Greek life so that you can get to know a little more about them and their organizations. They discuss their chapter and experiences, along with their goals for this upcoming term. This is the interview of Michael Demeo, the President of the Delta Chi fraternity.
Michael is a junior from Smithfield, Rhode Island. He is majoring in finance with a minor in economics and a concentration in applied analytics. A fun fact about himself is that he loves to travel and his favorite place he has been to is Greece.
Her Campus: Why did you run for President of Delta Chi?
Michael: I ran for President of Delta Chi because I wanted to be a leader for my chapter, I wanted to be someone that everyone can look up to and set a positive example for every one of my brothers. I also wanted to set this chapter up for success now and in the future. I can come back as an alumnus and be proud of what my brothers and I have helped build.
Her Campus: What are some goals you want to accomplish throughout your term?
Michael: Some goals that I want to accomplish throughout my term are that I wanted to strengthen my chapter’s bond with each other as well as with other fraternities, sororities, and the Bryant community as a whole. I also want my chapter to have a strong presence on campus and set an example for the community. I also want to ensure that my chapter has a lasting relationship with each other so that we are always there for each other. I also want my chapter to enjoy the time they have as an active member, college flies by and I do not want any of my brothers to have any regrets when that time comes, I want everyone’s voice to be heard because at the end of the day, I am the President, but I would not be in this position if it were not for my brothers who put me in the position in the first place, so I will do everything to make them a part of this chapter because Delta Chi is a brotherhood and a family.
Her Campus: What are you most looking forward to for this upcoming term?
Michael: What I am looking forward to the most this upcoming term is to continue to create lasting memories with my chapter, as well as giving our graduating seniors the best sendoff that we can give them because they have put so much time and dedication into this chapter that they deserve to have a great last semester at Bryant, and I will do anything to make that happen.
Her Campus: What is your favorite thing about Delta Chi?
Michael: My favorite thing about being in Delta Chi is the brotherhood. There is nothing better than knowing that someone is always there for you and always has your back no matter what. There is nothing I would not do for any of these guys, I will always have their back. When I decided to transfer to Bryant, I wanted to have a strong group of friends and a strong network and that’s what I found in the Brotherhood of Delta Chi, and I would trade it for the world. It is such an honor to be the leader of such an amazing chapter.
Her Campus: What does being in Greek life mean to you?
Michael: What being in Greek life means to me is that no matter what fraternity or sorority you are in, we all have the power to make a difference at Bryant and in the world. Being a part of Greek life allows you to meet so many people from different backgrounds and to also create relationships outside of just your fraternity or sorority which in turn makes the Greek life community stronger and allows us to have a larger impact on the community. I believe that Greek life on this campus has a great opportunity to make a difference.
