You know how you hear a certain song and it will take you back to a very specific point in your life? A distinct state of being, a unique circumstance, a lingering emotion. For me, 2022 was a year mapped by the music I had on repeat. I’ve compiled my moments of breathtaking joy, the echoes of my melancholic heartbreak, the wonderful places I’ve explored, the unforgettable experiences I’ve had, and the extraordinary people that I love into a soundtrack. My soundtrack for 2022. Each song I’ve chosen is tied inextricably and indefinitely to the past year and the memories that exist within it.
I know the new year is already over a month underway, and the time for reminiscing on the past year is reaching its end. However, my 2022 wasn’t a year that so easily let me go, and one that I am holding onto dearly in turn. Creating this compilation was a way for me to not only process, but also give myself something tangible to look back on and remember. I’m not going to explain my selections, I’m not even sure if I could, but I wanted to share them anyway. This is my soundtrack of 2022, and it is so much more than music.
