Cafes in Boulder that Make Good Study Spots

Studying in a tiny dorm room can get boring quickly, and Boulder’s on-campus cafes can get really crowded. Therefore, I made it my goal this school year to try more off-campus study spots. While working on this goal, I discovered that not all cafes are created equal. Here are some brief reviews of Boulder study spots:

Trident

Trident has a great nighttime vibe for your evening study session. When I have gone, they have always had performers like musicians and poets. Plus, it is also a bookstore!

Pekoe (Alpine Ave.)

Pekoe is relaxing but not sleepy. I love going here when I need to work on a paper or do some reading. Unlike the other cafes on this list, Pekoe also serves boba. They also have fun seasonal options.

Laughing Goat

Laughing Goat is the G.O.A.T., whether it’s the location in Norlin or on Pearl. The latter location on Pearl has plenty of seating and a great atmosphere. This is where I have been the most productive out of everywhere on this list.

Ozo (Longmont)

This location is actually in Longmont, but there are several in Boulder (including two on Pearl). I prefer this one because it has lots of seating (in addition to an amazing outdoor area) and is less busy than Boulder. I tell everyone who likes mochas to go to Ozo. They have an expansive list of mochas. My favorite is their Almond Joy Latte.

Gabee Coffee

Gabee is a cute and small spot I don’t hear many students talk about. I enjoyed studying here, but they do limit the amount of time you can use their free Wi-Fi (either an hour or an hour and a half).

Spruce (Pearl Pkwy)

Spruce has a modern, clean feel and a fun variety of foods that are more than just sweet pastries. This location does have limited seating, but if you can snag a spot, it’s a nice location that’s just slightly removed from the chaos of Pearl and campus.

There are many more cafes I have yet to try; Boulder has so many options. Everywhere has a different vibe and you just have to find the one(s) that works for you and your study habits. Even when you find your place, don’t be afraid to try somewhere new!
