If you’re spending this Valentine’s Day in our lovely little town of Gettysburg, you may be wondering Where could I go to spark that romantic feeling? Despite the rich history and quirky stores around town, Gettysburg doesn’t seem to have an abundance of spots for celebrating love. However, the quaint city might just surprise you with lots of things to do for your Valentine’s season. These are our top recommendations for where to go/what to do in Gettysburg on Tuesday, whether you have a Valentine, a Galentine, or just want to practice some self-love!
La Bella Italia
There’s a special place in my heart for La Bella Italia. Think: Homemade Italian food with an intimate, comforting atmosphere and mood lighting. This restaurant brings all the romantic vibes this season, with a cozy dining room and delicious pasta that is sure to set the tone right for the night. The only downside is that this restaurant gets very busy, so we recommend calling ahead.
Mai Noodle House
Mai Noodle is truly a hidden gem in Gettysburg. Although it’s a bit of a walk from campus, this Asian cuisine is more than worth it. The quaint location is perfect for something more “chill,” with an atmosphere that’s great for chatting and food that is out of this world. Since the closing of J&J, another local Asian restaurant, Mai Noodle is exactly what Gettysburg students have needed, and we think you should treat yourself to this delicious spot for Valentine’s Day!
Flowers @ Loca Flora
Grab yourself, or a loved one, some flowers at Loca Flora! Not only are flowers a crucial part of this day of love <3, but they are also being sold only a few feet away from campus! Loca Flora provides a collection of flowers grown within 100 miles of Gettysburg, as well as house plants and botanical gifts that are ADORABLE. They are taking pickup orders right now for Valentine’s Day and the selection is beautiful. Support this small, women-owned business on Tuesday!
Battlefield Drive and PICNIC
Okay, so we know it’s going to be cold in Gettysburg on Tuesday… but that doesn’t mean we can’t make the most of our location! Gettysburg has beautiful battlefields and sunsets, both of which can be taken advantage of on Valentine’s Day. If you or a loved one have a car, you can go on a drive around Gettysburg, perhaps pick up some of your favorite foods, and picnic in the car while watching the sunset. Not only is this just straight-up cute, but it’s also the most romantic thing you could do. Watching the sunset together? Come on!
Going to the movies
I know what you might be thinking: Are the movies really that romantic for Valentine’s Day? Well, I say yes. Not only does it give you a fun activity to do together, but can also be surrounded by more personal, intimate activities like getting ice cream, having dinner, or going on a cute walk there. Now the unfortunate thing about this is that the Majestic Theater is closed this Tuesday. However, we have an R/C Gateway theater just down the road! A cheaper alternative could also be to stay in and watch something together, perhaps accompanied by chocolate-covered strawberries!
