Priyanka Chopra’s New Rom-Com Features A Funny Nick Jonas Cameo

Even though Valentine’s Day is over, you can still watch your favorite rom-coms. In fact, on Feb. 14, the trailer for Priyanka Chopra’s new rom-com, Love Again, was released. Now, while Chopra is an established actor in her own right, she’s also famously married to Nick Jonas (and living out the dream that I was convinced I would have when I was eight years old). Viewers were also shocked to see Jonas appear in the Love Again trailer — as a bad date for Chopra’s character, no less.

However, Chopra is more than just an actress and the loving wife of one of the Jonas Brothers. Alongside those notable titles, she also won the Miss World Pageant in 2000, has been one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine, was one of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women by Forbes, and was on BBC’s 100 Women list. It sure seems like Jonas picked the right person to spend the rest of his life with.

If you’re curious about how these two act together on screen, as well as all the other details of Love Again, I’ve got the scoop on the plot, release date, full cast, and more.

Nick Jonas makes a quick cameo in the trailer.

Jonas has a surprise appearance as Mira’s (Chopra’s character) bad date. In the trailer, he shows up to pick up Mira and they are in the back of a car when she says, “Maybe we just take it a little slower,” before having a very awkward kiss scene where Mira looks very uncomfortable. At least we know that Nick and Chopra’s dates probably go smoother in reality.

What we know about the plot so far

Love Again is bound to be a must-see movie for many people and may even be some people’s new favorite rom-com. The film will follow Mira, who is still dealing with the loss of her fiance two years later and sends him romantic text messages to his old cell phone number as a way to cope. What she doesn’t realize, though, is that the phone number has been reassigned to Rob Burns, who works as a journalist. He quickly becomes fascinated by her and the honesty in her words. When he gets assigned to write a profile piece on Celine Dion, he uses it to his personal advantage and enlists her in trying to figure out how to meet Mira and maybe even make her fall in love with him. However, before the magic happens, Mira’s friends are determined to get her out dating again and she must endure a bad date.

Love Again is also a remake of the 2016 German film, SMS fur dich (Text For You), which was based off of the 2009 novel of the same name by Sofie Kramer. It’ll be interesting to see the similarities and differences between the different forms of media.

The cast is full of powerhouse actors.

Alongside Chopra, Love Again will also feature Sam Heughan, who plays Rob Burns. Heughan is most known for his roles as Sebastian Henshaw in The Spy Who Dumped Me and Jamie Fraser in the Starz series, Outlander. The film will also mark Dion’s acting debut, where she will be playing herself. Other notable names in the film include Russell Tovey, Omid Djalili and Celia Irmie.

Love Again will also come with new Celine Dion music.

It’s no surprise that a movie starring Dion would also feature new music by the singer as part of the soundtrack. On Nov. 2, 2022, Dion took to Instagram and announced that along with starring in the film, she would also be releasing new music for it. Considering the powerful songs we got for movies like Beauty and the Beast, both in 1991 and 2017, and her showstopping vocals when she recorded “My Heart Will Go On” for Titanic (which still goes hard 25 years later), I can’t wait to see what new music we get to tell the story of this adorable rom-com.

Love Again’s release date makes it the perfect film to watch this Mother’s Day.

Love Again will be released in theaters on May 12, 2023, and is being distributed by Sony Pictures. Other production companies that worked on the film include Screen Gems, Thunder Road Pictures, and 2.0 Entertainment. The cinematography for the film was done by Andrew Dunn and it was edited by Jesse Gordon. All of the hard work will have paid off and I can’t wait to see it as the perfect start to my summer.

Whether you’re a lover of rom-coms and enjoy living vicariously through them or just want to see a cameo of Jonas, Love Again will be the perfect rom-com to have you swooning this summer. With new music by Dion, I can’t wait to see this movie and will be seated in the theaters when it comes out.
