5 Trader Joe’s Snacks You Must Try

The opinions expressed in this article are the writer’s own and do not reflect the views of Her Campus.
This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Boston chapter.

As a frequent Trader Joe’s customer, I’ve tried and tested nearly all of their products over the last few years. From the most beloved and popular items to their most despised and discontinued products. I’ve explored their vast selection of pre-made frozen meals, delicious snacks, and high-quality organic options. One of the things I like best about Trader Joe’s is their commitment to serving individual portions, which makes it ideal for people who only buy for themselves. This not only ensures that the food is consumed faster, but it also reduces wastage, making them more affordable and ideal for college students.

Here are my top five snack items you should consider adding to your Trader Joe’s shopping cart on your next trip. I hope you enjoy it!

  1. Chocolate Crossiants

These are the best chocolate croissants you’ll ever have (from a grocery store at least). I’ve tried pre-made croissants from other supermarkets, Dunkin’, and Starbucks, and these are by far the best. They’re also $4.99 for four, which works out to about 1.24 cents each. I’m not going to lie, letting them rise is such a process, but it’s so worth it when you wake up. Pop them in the oven and you’ll have the most delicious breakfast.

2. Restaurant Style Corn Tortilla Chips

This entry on my list is grossly underappreciated. These chips have the perfect salt-to-lime ratio. I recommend serving it with Trader Joe’s Chunky Spicy Guacamole Autentico or Hot Pico De Gallo Salsa. Alternatively, crumble them and toss them into chili or on top of a salad. I like to scoop them into whole foods chili, but any chili will do.

3. Organic Dried Mango Unsweetened

I always have these in my cupboard, as they are the perfect snack to satisfy your sweet tooth. Throw these in your bag before class and snack away. However, make sure to get the unsweetened version — the sweetened version isn’t my favorite. If you like these, you should also try the apple and mango fruit bars, which are also amazing.

4. Vanilla Overnight Oats

This is one of my favorite breakfasts to eat before my 8 a.m. lecture. I usually mix it thoroughly and top it with chopped bananas. For extra protein, I sometimes drizzle some nut butter on top. However, if you prefer a lot of texture you may not like it, as it’s definitely mushy. They also make an almond butter flavor, but I prefer this one.

5. Everything Bagels

I have been eating these since high school and I don’t think I’ll ever stop. They’re perfectly soft and salty. For a nice kick, I sometimes spread butter on top or add jalapeño cream cheese. I’m not even a big fan of bagels, so that’s how you know they’re good. They are ideal on the go and a must-try.

While these five Trader Joe’s snacks are unquestionably my favorites, the truth is that there are a plethora of other snack options available that are equally delicious and worth exploring. Furthermore, those with dietary restrictions can choose from an impressive selection of gluten-free and dairy-free snacks.
