The time has finally come for all Taylor Jenkins Reid fans; the Daisy Jones and the Six mini-series is premiering on Amazon Prime Video today! After years of dreaming, fans of the book (me!) are seeing the fictional 70s band come to life.
The novel of Daisy Jones and the Six was released in 2019 as part of the “Taylor Jenkins Literary Universe”, as fans call it. This collection of four books includes Daisy Jones & the Six, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (a Netflix movie adaptation in the works), Malibu Rising (a Hulu TV adaptation in production), and Carrie Soto is Back.
With trailer having over six million (!) views at the time of writing, it isn’t a stretch to say people are anxious for this show to be able to stream. The show will have 10 episodes, with the first three available now and the rest to be released weekly.
Besides the series streaming on Amazon, there is also a full-length album releasing, with performances from the star-studded cast. Riley Keough (granddaughter of Elvis Presley) stars in the titular role of Daisy Jones, with Sam Claflin (Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games) as Billy Dunne and Suki Waterhouse as Karen Sirko.
The first single, “Regret Me”, was released on January 25th, and the second single “Look At Us Know (Honeycomb)” on February 15th. But along with the release of the series, 11 of the 24 original songs written and recorded for the series are releasing today on the album “Aurora”, based on the in-universe fictional album of the same name.
Not to mention, major musicians helped produce and create “Aurora” behind the scenes like Phoebe Bridgers, Marcus Mumford, Jackson Browne, and Blake Mills. In a recent press release, Mills talked about the creation of the album saying, “Creating the library of music for Daisy Jones & the Six was an experience I’ll never forget. I am grateful that, among other things, it afforded me an opportunity to collaborate with so many of my peers, and also some of my heroes.”
I cannot wait for the release of all the upcoming episodes and to get listening to “Aurora”. The first three episodes are streaming now on Amazon Prime Video, and “Aurora” is out on all music streaming platforms!
