Like many, I’ve dreamed of visiting Greece for as long as I can remember. The country’s stunning beaches, rich history, and amazing architecture has been at the top of my “must-see” list for quite some time. I mean, is it possible to imagine an evening out on the town, relishing in beautiful culture and cuisine, without imagining Greece?
Lately, this travel dream of mine has been intensified by the one thing that can influence me like no other. The one thing that has (and always will) have a chokehold over me. The place of my summer vacation dreams is calling me through fashion — the kind of fashion that will have you dreaming of warm weather and magical places — aka the Greece Girl aesthetic.Â
Filled with linen fabric and chic accessories, the Greece Girl look is the latest minimalistic (yet gorgeous) style aesthetic to recently grace my social media feed. A tad more modern than the Coastal Grandma aesthetic and much more inclusive than Clean Girl trends, dressing like you’re headed to Greece is the latest style obsession. And don’t worry, if you’re not sure where to start, I’ve got you covered. Although it may sound pricey to dress like a fancy island girl for the summer, it doesn’t have to be. With this style, you’re free to choose between anything from your highest-quality linen and silks to upcycled fabrics and secondhand finds. Just make sure to choose items you love and will cherish for years to come. Now, take a look at these four outfit staples that will complete your Greece Girl vibe!
- All Linen Everything
-
When I imagine myself walking the streets of Santorini, I picture myself in a linen set. It’s super practical for everyday wear, and definitely perfect for Greece in the summer. Even better — when you buy something that’s 100% linen, it’ll keep you warm in the fall and cool in the summer — serving you year-round. But best of all? You’ll look chic without even trying. Just throw on your favorite pair of sunnies or a simple necklace to fit that Greece Girl vibe.
Personally, I love an all-white linen look, but don’t be afraid to go for pops of color. BRB, putting the H&M Linen-Blend Dress ($30) and the Abercrombie Linen-Blend Tailored Wide Leg Pant ($80) and Linen-Blend Top ($60) in my cart ASAP!
- Scarf & Twist-Tie Tops
-
Scarf and twist-tie tops are the perfect staple shirts for the summer Greece Girl look. They’re easy to pack, simple to style, and hold just the right amount of elegance to make the Greece-inspired cut. And don’t forget — there are literally tons of adorable ways to tie the scarf and make a fashionable statement. They also come in handy as a quick shoulder covering, too. If you’re looking for your own, I’ve created quite the collection of silk scarves through my many thrifting adventures. But you can also try ones like the Free People One Raya Bandana Top ($48)!
On the other hand, I love twist-tie tops because they add the perfect amount of feminine energy to any look. I’m currently obsessed with Djerf Avenue’s Tie Tank Top in Cloud ($119), but there are plenty of adorable, and more affordable options on Amazon.
- Maxis, Maxis, & More Maxis
-
Still trying to incorporate that Greece Girl vibe in your closet? You’ll need plenty of maxi dresses and maxi skirts. Just picture stunning silk fabric flowing behind you as you run across the beaches of Mykonos and Corfu. At least, that’s what I’m picturing! But seriously, the perfect maxi dress will have you feeling confident and beautiful — exactly the attitude you need to fit the Greece Girl aesthetic.
I currently have the gorgeous Djerf Avenue Dream Dress in Sky ($199) and Abercrombie’s High-Slit Dress in Blue Floral ($120) on my list, but there are plenty of amazing options on Poshmark, too. As for maxi skirts, you can’t go wrong with a staple color like silver, black, or tan. But don’t be afraid to be inspired by the vibrant blues of Greece when choosing! Right now, I’m dying to get my hands on the Lioness Devon Maxi Skirt in Sonic Silver ($79).
- Chic Accessories
-
The wonderful thing about the Greece Girl aesthetic? It’s all in the details. Since the wardrobe of the Greece Girl is refined, simplistic, and utterly chic, the accessories should be, too. Think gold, pearls, and ocean-inspired accessories. If you’re looking for authentic designs from Greek-owned small shops, take a look at Pretty Little Pearl’s La Petite Pearl Necklace ($48) and gorgeous Pearl Straw Tote ($62), Hellenic Aesthetic’s funky Gadda Da Vida Bracelet ($63), and Mata Xios’ gold plated Niki Evil Eye Necklace ($32). My favorite pieces that fit the Greece Girl vibe involve pearls, so make sure to check out Etsy for similar pieces!
