Quarantining due to COVID-19 in 2020 led to some new discoveries for most people around the globe in terms of goals, habits, self-discoveries, and more. For Sagrika, it was a period of realization that she had a platform and an idea that could become something all college students could connect with. Let’s talk: is the college podcast started by Sagrika Sethi in May 2020 which is for students, by students, to students. She invites guests — mostly students and business owners — to have conversations about self-care, starting one’s own business, moving to a new city, and other challenges that students may face. Sitting down with her to talk about Let’s talk:, I’m excited to share our conversation ahead.
Vaidehi: Seeing as this podcast was a quarantine baby, what in that time period inspired you to start a podcast?
Sagrika: I think being in my own space and learning more about my interests were the biggest tools that inspired me to start this podcast. By having time to myself, I was better able to understand the people I was surrounded with, their actions, and what they chose to do in their free time. Soon, I realized most college students operate that way, and boom, I decided to start the Let’s talk: Podcast!
Vaidehi: Are there any specific traits or motivations you keep in mind when highlighting guests on your podcast?
Sagrika: Absolutely. When picking guests, I make sure to invite people who share the same vision for the podcast — whether that is educating through personal stories or sharing tools that have worked for them, the goal of the podcast is to provide a platform for people to open up, share and connect. If you’re a student or have something interesting to share, the podcast is open to you!
Vaidehi: Do you see this podcast staying a resource for college students content-wise, or growing with time as you grow in life?
Sagrika: I believe what makes the podcast unique is that the content I put out applies to individuals in all areas of life. High school students, working professionals, and young adults can always learn and benefit from the guests since they’re centered to all age groups and that’s what I love most about it!
Vaidehi: As your best friend of 16 years who has watched you start and grow Let’s talk: into a chart-topping podcast, when and how do I score an invite to be a guest on an episode?
Sagrika: You tell me now, and I’m getting you on the pod! It makes me so happy to see people want to be on the show and so for that, I might actually start a mini-series that features guests on my podcast in a 30-second video, short, sweet, and to the point. This way, I’m able to give back to all my guests while also sharing exciting content for my listeners!
If you’re looking for a new podcast as a college student or young professional, Let’s talk: is available on all major platforms with Spotify and Apple Music being the most popular, and the Instagram account also shares a bunch of reels for on-the-go pep talks.
