I love reading, and over the course of the many books I have read in my lifetime, I’ve amassed a collection of favorite characters that are very dear to my heart. Within those favorites are my book loves, boyfriends, if you will, who I would fold for immediately without question. Here are the top three book boyfriends with some explanation as to why they made the list. Please note: this article involves some book spoilers!
3. Cedric Diggory from “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” by She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named
Ah, my longtime love. This man had my heart from the very beginning of my reading career. It might’ve had something to do with the fact that I recognized the actor portraying him from the Twilight Saga, but I digress. He’s a Hufflepuff, just like I am, and exhibits kindness and bravery in his trials as part of the Triwizard Tournament. And, you know, he’s pretty to look at. Poor Cho really lost a good one.
2. Peeta Mellark from “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins
So I’m quite aware that THG is not a love story and that the focus on Katniss and Peeta’s relationship in the books was a ploy and somewhat reflects the modern consumer’s lust for romance while missing the main point of the work. However, I’d just like to say that his unwavering love for Katniss in the story and, frankly, his face, does put him on my list. He’s a painter, he’s a baker, he likes to sleep with the windows open, he never takes sugar in his tea, and he always double-knots his shoelaces. I believe that Peeta and I have pretty similar personalities, and he has such a soft and gentle heart that I couldn’t help but fall for him over the course of my many rereadings and movie binges.

This man. He has my whole heart, even though his belongs to Feyre (sigh). He is a gentleman without being overbearing, and has such respect and love for his High Lady. He is playful but takes her opinions and feelings very seriously (so the bare minimum, but what can I say, I’m easily flattered). He also has lots of tattoos, and quite the wingspan, if you know what I mean.
I very much recommend each book series, as they were big favorites of mine growing up as well as today. I read the ACOTAR series during the previous semester, and could not put it down, so if you’re looking for a spicy fantasy series, give it a read!
