Especially in Texas, the Springtime brings so many different colors to the greenery. The newly bloomed flowers on campus at Texas A&M bring a sense of joy on a sunny day. Spring has always been my favorite time of year. The anticipation of Summer break and the hot weather has never failed to make me excited for future plans. Additionally, I will also be crossing something off my bucket list in April: Getting my Aggie Ring.
After countless hours of studying and years of hard work, I will finally accomplish my goal of getting my ring. My father was an Aggie before me and always wore his ring. I remember being in middle school and hoping to one day match with him. I remember the day I ordered it at the Alumni Center in late January. At the time, April seemed to far away – almost an eternity of waiting.
Why is it that time goes by so slow when you’re most excited about something?
Now that the day is approaching, I think back to all the stories of students that received their ring. I have been told that the waiting seemed eternal, but when you finally have it on your finger it’s all worth it. I would not be where I am today without the support of my friends and family. As a transfer student, there were times that I felt like I didn’t belong and there were days in which I was so homesick. The past four years have taught me valuable lessons about adaptability and independence.
The mixture of bluebonnets and good times to come make me feel gratitude for my future and encourage me to look forward, not backwards. This is also the time of year where I feel I need new clothes and accessories for the coming months. After the conclusion of Summer break, I will be attending my final semester at Texas A&M University. It’s almost surreal how fast time went by.
