Flowers are blooming, birds are singing, and spring has finally sprung. One of the best things about this new season is spring baking! Spring baking is one of my favorite things to do, and as such, I am always on the lookout for a spring-inspired recipe. Here are some of my favorite recipes and flavors to make for that signature spring bake.
- Lemon-Poppyseed Loaf
-
Lemon is one of the best spring flavors as it is so bright and fresh. Lemon poppyseed is a classic flavor combination, and it is especially good in a loaf cake like this.
- Croissants
-
Croissants may seem scary, but they can be super simple once you get the hang of them. They make for a fancy pastry to bust out for brunch with friends and can be a super fun way to display your baking prowess.
- Key-lime pie bars
-
I absolutely love key-lime pie. These bars are a great way to bust out that key-lime flavor without the hassle of making a whole pie.
- Cadbury mini-egg cookies
-
Cadbury mini eggs are a staple candy around Easter. These cookies are a fun springtime take on the classic chocolate chip cookie we all know and love through the incorporation of the mini-eggs.
- Carrot cake
-
Carrot cake is another classic bake that screams spring (although between you and me, the cream cheese icing is probably my favorite part). Carrot cake is one of those bakes you could bring anywhere, and everyone would enjoy it!
- Funfetti blondies
-
Blondies are delicious. Plain and simple. These brown-butter blondies are filled with sprinkles and M&Ms, making a perfectly simple spring-inspired bake for any occasion.
- Strawberry lemon coffee cake
-
Just like lemon poppyseed, strawberry-lemon is one of those hard-to-beat flavor combinations. Add these flavors, and you have an interesting new spin on the traditional coffee cake.
- Flower-pressed sugar cookies
-
Sugar cookies are typically a fan favorite, and I especially love these because the pressed edible flower decoration makes them visually stunning. Just make sure the flowers you use for these are in fact edible!
- Honey lavender scones
-
What makes for a more classic spring flavor than honey lavender? Especially when made into scones! Scones are such a fun food to have around for breakfast, brunch, or any other time you need a snack. Teatime anyone?
- Strawberry and cream sponge cake
-
This is one of the most aesthetic cakes you could ever make. They are super simple, with only three main ingredients in the sponge (eggs, sugar, and flour), and then come the toppings! A great cake for those with limited time because the decoration is simple and rustic!
Overall, whether you decide to bake any of these recipes or not, I hope you take the time this spring to enjoy a sweet and tasty treat! There are plenty of gluten-free and vegan versions of these recipes out there as well, so be sure to check out Pinterest for some more inspiration on all things spring baking related.
Happy spring, and happy baking!
