Beach #1: Old Orchard Beach in Old Orchard Beach, Maine
Old Orchard Beach is one of my favorite beaches of all time. This is saying a lot, because I used to live in California. There are many reasons why this beach takes the number one spot. First of all, the sunsets are gorgeous with the amusement park in the background. As you can see in the photo above, the sun was just starting to set. I actually took this photo myself. A second reason why I love this beach so much is because it is so expansive, that even when there are a ton of people, you can always find a spot somewhere on the beach. My personal favorite thing about this beach is the amusement park and arcade. The arcade and mini amusement park are huge and you can spend hours just doing those two things. Lastly, I really enjoy how the next block up from the beach, there is a park with basketball courts and a playground. I think this adds a nice touch to an area that is already so beautiful.
Beach #2: Hampton Beach in Hampton, New Hampshire
Hampton Beach is another one of my favorite beaches. The reason this tops the third one is even though it is “basic”, it is because it is a classic. Since I moved to New Hampshire in 2013, I have been going to this beach. I love all of the old stores and arcades on the strip. On top of that, the beach is so close and so fun. They do fireworks every Wednesday which is super exciting and special. As well as fireworks, they also do a sand sculpture competition every year which is always interesting to go look at. Another plus side is that almost all of the restaurants on the strip are fantastic. All of the food is so amazing and there is such a variety that you are sure to find something you like. Overall, this beach never disappoints, and although I am sure most people have visited it at least once before, definitely check it out if you have not!
Beach #3: Long Sands Beach in York, Maine
My final beach that made the top three is Long Sands Beach. Although this beach is not like the typical beach you may imagine, I still believe that it deserves to be on the list. Long Sands Beach has so many seashells. One of my favorite things to do is to collect seashells so if you are like me, this is the place to go. Along with that, it is so beautiful to walk along in the early evening when there are not too many people. I always see dogs every single time I go in the early evening and it makes the experience even better. The thing about this beach that is “not typical” is the fact that it does not have a boardwalk. As you can see from the picture above, there are houses on the opposite sides of the street. These houses run for just as many miles as the beach. If you love just going to the beach for the beach itself, then this is the best beach. I have also noticed that not as many people bring their younger kids to this beach because they tend to get bored, so that could also be a plus.
Author’s Note:
Hey guys! Again, this list of top beaches is just my opinion. I also took all of the included photos myself so I hope you enjoy those. I am sure most of you have been to or at least heard of one or maybe all of these beaches. If so, I hope you have enjoyed them as much as I did. The beach is a safe, relaxing space for me and if it feels the same for you, add these to your places to go this summer! Anyways, I hope you enjoy this and maybe can get something out of it too.
With love always,
