With Millersville University being settled in the middle of a smaller town, we are lucky to be so close to Lancaster City. I love how we can enjoy the small town! I love how we can enjoy the small-town university vibe with a city that is easily accessible for unique hangout spots and fun nightlife. Here are some of my favorite places to go in Lancaster City:
- Building Character
One of my favorite places in Lancaster City is Building Character. This shop is made up of small businesses that rent out spaces to set up their unique items for sale. Located at 342 North Queen Street, this marketplace has close to 100 unique vendors that feature vintage clothing, handmade jewelry, antiques, and much more.
Also check out their sister store, Madcap & Company at 310 North Queen Street.
- DecadesÂ
If you are looking to combine something to eat with something to do, check out Decades at 438 North Queen Street. With a retro bowling alley, vintage games in a classic arcade, and a kitchen with a full bar, this is my go-to spot to have a good time. And the game tokens are only 25 cents!
- Zoetropolis
When you think of the word eclectic, Zoetropolis fits the definition perfectly. This cinema stillhouse, located at 112 North Water Street, regularly screens avantgarde movies and international films. Through a partnership with Lancaster Distilleries, you can enjoy booze while you watch a movie, and the best part is you can chill out on a comfy couch or any of the unique and inviting seating. If youâre in the mood for dinner, there is also a full restaurant on site, and their Detroit-style pizza is a must-try!
- Gallery Grow
All of my plant parents out there are going to love this one. At Gallery Grow, 150 North Prince Street, you can walk in alone, and walk out with a cute plant in a cute container that you put together yourself. They also offer group classes, which would be really fun with a few of your friends. Even if youâre not a plant pro, the staff is super knowledgeable and will answer all of your âgrowingâ questions.
- Central Market Flowers
Continuing with the plant theme, Central Market Flowers is a women-owned business that specializes in creative bouquets and florals for any occasion. On a budget? You can stop in at 258 North Queen Street and buy one flower of a wide variety that you wonât find anywhere else. They also have dried flowers and succulents, making this the perfect spot to pick up a little gift for someone else or pick up a treat for yourself.Â
Next time youâre in the city, check out one of these places and find your new favorite place in Lancaster City.
