After much brainstorming and planning, our chapter hosted our last school-wide event a few weeks ago. This event was inspired by the well-known “Painting with a Twist” and “Paint and Sip” nights; it seemed like the perfect event during these last busy and stressful weeks at university. Our board members worked together to pull the night off successfully, creating delicious mocktails for guests to sip, creating a template and painting for guests to recreate through the night, and decorating the space to create a relaxing but fun atmosphere.

Although we had hosted a paint night with food, drinks, a photo booth, and more last semester, this event was different as there were instructions and an image (one of our board members, Emma, creatively created) that guests were encouraged to follow. For guests that followed these instructions or tried recreating the image, it was fun guessing what their painting style was like and how this would affect the painting. For guests who decided to do their own thing, it was even more fun to observe what they ended up drawing, and it varied from abstract art to blue cats.

As my last semester and school-wide event as CC, this event brought me joy as I met new and old friends and was able to bond with board and club members. Furthermore, the event felt refreshing not only due to the vibrant colors of the painting but also the happy music, chatter, colorful tables, and cold-fruity drinks. The mocktails were a great addition to the event; our board member Amelia, graciously curated an array of Piña colada and Shirley Temples. Also, I heard from guests that attended that they loved the event, which made me super happy and content with the outcome of the event. Overall, painting events are becoming a signature of HerCampus Jefferson, and they always allow a safe, relaxing, and delicious space for club members and students.
