Since the semester is coming to a close and summer is about to start, I have been looking back on all of the books, TV shows, movies, and music that I’ve enjoyed so far this year. One of my favorite ways of marking the passage of time is by referring back to my watch lists, so to celebrate the end of yet another school year, here is some of the best media that I’ve enjoyed over the past month.

Movies

When looking back, I realized that this has been a month full of movies. I have watched a good mixture of new, old, pretentious, childish, happy, and sad movies. Here is a list of each movie, where to stream it (if it’s on one of the major platforms), and my personal rating of the movie out of five.

  • “Frozen 2,” Disney +, 5/5
  • “Chicago,” HBO Max, 3.5/5
  • “Prom Pact,” Disney +, 3.5/5
  • “Dead Poets Society,” 5/5
  • “High Fidelity,” Hulu, 4/5
  • “The French Dispatch,” HBO Max, 5/5
  • “Casablanca,” HBO Max, 5/5
  • “Pretty in Pink,” HBO Max, 5/5
  • “Cool Hand Luke,” HBO Max, 4/5
  • “The Batman,” HBO Max, 4/5
  • “Before Sunset,” 5/5
  • “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules,” Disney +, 4/5

TV Shows

Since I have been watching a lot of movies, I haven’t watched as much TV, but the shows that I have been watching (or rewatching episodes of) are all definitely worth watching!

  • “Bluey,” Disney +, 5/5
  • “Heartstopper,” Netflix, 5/5
  • “The Magicians,” Netflix, 5/5
  • “Ted Lasso,” Apple TV+, 5/5
  • “Chuck,” HBO Max, 4/5
  • “Schitt’s Creek,” Hulu, 5/5

Books

As for what I’ve been reading, there has been a lot of classic literature and gothic novels. I just recently realized that most books within the public domain have free and accessible audiobooks either on Spotify or on YouTube. These audiobooks have been my go-to when working on crochet projects or finishing up a painting.

  • “Dracula” by Bram Stoker
  • “The Picture of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde
  • “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley
  • “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” by Robert Louis Stevenson
  • “The Phantom of the Opera” by Gaston Leroux
  • “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen

Music

With all of the other media I’ve been consuming – and of course spending my time doing other things – I haven’t had the opportunity to listen to a whole lot of music. Regardless, I’d like to share the songs that I have been listening to and add a couple of extra suggestions.

  • “Let’s Go!” by Poor Man’s Poison
  • “The Mask and the Mirror” by Poor Man’s Poison
  • “Why Can’t I be You?” by the Cure
  • “Perfect Day” by Lou Reed
  • “Can I Believe You” by Fleet Foxes
  • “Nothing Matters But You” by the Young Veins
  • “She’s a Rainbow” by the Rolling Stones
  • “Short Skirt and a Long Jacket” by CAKE
  • “West End Girls” by the Pet Shop Boys
  • “Postcards from Italy” by Beirut
  • “All Things End” by Hozier
  • “Devil’s Advocate” by the Neighborhood
  • “Go” by Cody Fry

Whether you’re looking to add some things to your watch list or you’re looking for some new songs to listen to, I hope you’ve found something on these lists that you can enjoy!
