The ‘XO, Kitty’ Season 2 Trailer Has ‘To All The Boys’ Fans Screaming

Updated Published

Your favorite teen matchmaker is officially back for more. On Nov. 21, 2024 Netflix announced XO, Kitty’s Season 2 release date, which is (drum roll, please) Jan. 16, 2025! The streamer posted the official announcement on YouTube, with Anna Cathcart (who plays Kitty), Sang Heon Lee (who plays Min Ho), and more cast members doing TikTok’s viral “Where” trend.

Season 2’s release date announcement comes a few months after Netflix announced that Season 2 of XO, Kitty was in production in April 2024. The streamer’s official TikTok account posted a super cute video of Cathcart and Lee doing the jumping-over-the-camera trend, going from a script reading to the show’s set with the rest of the cast. Cathcart also posted a video of herself and the cast lip-syncing along to Reneé Rapp’s song “Not My Fault” with a caption that read, “Oh hey season 2.”

Now that Season 2’s release date has officially dropped, I can’t tell who’s more excited: the cast or the thousands of fans who have been begging to know what happens next after Season 1’s wild ending back in the spring of 2023.

Here’s what else to know about the show’s sophomore season.

What Happened In ‘XO, Kitty’ Season 1?

Season 1 ended on a major cliffhanger: Kitty gets expelled from KISS and is about to fly back to the United States, she ends things (on a good note!) with Dae, and Min Ho confesses his feelings for Kitty right after she almost confessed her feelings for Yuri, who was just reunited with her girlfriend Juliana. The relationship drama on this show has hit an all-time high, and I’m eating up every second of it. Fans are eager to find out who’ll end up with who; at this point, every ship is on the table.

Unlike To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, the film series about Kitty’s older sister Lara Jean, XO, Kitty isn’t adapted from a preexisting book series. That means fans will just have to hold tight until the second season starts streaming on Netflix to answer their burning questions.

What Will Season 2 Be About?

According to Netflix, Season 2 will follow Kitty, who’s back in Seoul for another round at KISS (guess she was able to get back in!). Here’s what the logline says about Kitty’s upcoming semester “She’s single for the first time in a long time, and ready for a fresh start: no more meddling, no more drama. Maybe just some casual dating. Emphasis on casual. But she has more to worry about than her love life, as a letter from her mother’s past sets her on a wild journey, and new faces at KISS bring change. As secrets unravel and bonds are tested, Kitty will learn that life, family and love are more complicated than she ever imagined.”

Season 2 will also see the return of a To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before fan-favorite. Noah Centineo, who played Peter Kavinsky in TATBILB, will reprise his role for XO, Kitty Season 2, marking his first time appearing in the series.

“It was amazing to watch Anna and Noah together on set; they have so much love and respect for each other and you can feel it in their scenes together. This season of XO, Kitty is all about where Kitty is going but also where she came from,” XO, Kitty showrunner, Jessica O’Toole, told TUDUM. “And the opportunity to include Peter Kavinsky in that journey was so exciting. I can’t wait for the fans to see Peter interact with some of their favorite XO, Kitty characters and to see all of the other juicy surprises we have in store… including some big moments fans have been waiting for and others they will never see coming.”

It looks like our favorite KISS students are here to stay.

In addition to Anna Cathcart, Gia Kim, Choi Min-yeong, Sang Heon Lee, Regan Aliyah, and Anthony Keyvan, Season 2 will also feature a few new faces. The show has brought on Audrey Huynh (ANZBBGRL, Wyrm), who will portray Stella as a series regular, as well as Sasha Bhasin (Brave the Dark) and Joshua Lee (Gangnam Project), who will appear as recurring characters Praveena and Jin, respectively.

So there you have it, besties! XO, Kitty Season 2 is just a few weeks away, and I can’t put into words how excited I am. Until then, I’m going to rewatch Season 1 so I’m up to date on everything. XO!
