A Review of UPRN: 370, aka The Next Class You Need to Take at TAMU

Howdy!

I just finished up my first summer course and it was wonderful.  I took UPRN: 370 over a 5 week period.  UPRN: 370, aka Health Systems Planning, was great and informative.  I’m a Biomedical Science major and this class counts towards my degree plan.  If this class counts towards your degree plan or if you want to learn more about the healthcare system, I highly suggest taking it too!

Assignments

The grading scale was broken up into 5 quizzes, 11 papers, and 3 assignments.  The quizzes were super easy and open note/book.  The papers were 400 word requirement where you would write your reaction to the information you were learning about.  And the 3 assignments were 1100 words requirement papers that challenged the students to get a better understanding of the United States healthcare system.  Overall, it is slightly writing heavy but super easy.  As long as you do the work, the class is an easy A.  And it’s 3 credits!

Grading Structure

But besides being an easy A, it’s also informative.  Healthcare is something we all need.  And even though you might not be worried about it right now, you will have to worry about it in the future.  So learning about the healthcare system in the United States is important and not something you can push off for too much longer.  That’s why I highly recommend this class.

Useful Information

This class not only teaches you about the United States healthcare system – where it falls short, how to improve the system, how politics affects the system – but also gives you the tools to figure out how to get the best health care for yourself.  It provides information about different useful health care cites, state by state health care performance, and so much more.  And it gives you a basic understanding of health care terms: co-pays, premiums, health insurance, in network, etc.  All of this is key information all adults need.

Ultimately, Take The Class

Health care is not a topic discussed about in high school, nor college if it doesn’t fall in your degree plan.  So where are you supposed to learn about the American healthcare system?  Oftentimes, it’s your responsibility.  So, if you can take UPRN: 370, take it.  Get an easy A while learning about a topic that isn’t just interesting, but necessary.

Howdy! I’m Gabriela Gomez, an avid reader who is interested in all areas of publishing and writing. And reading of course! I’m the Editor-in-Chief; I currently oversee all the publishing of articles for the Her Campus at TAMU chapter. I am overjoyed to read all the members’ articles and make any corrections that will help to elevate the article. I have been with Her Campus at TAMU since my freshman year. The first year I was a general member on the Writing and Editing committee. During that first year, I wrote a total of 23 articles and was always finding new ways to help. For my second year, I worked as the Senior Editor, publishing more than 80 articles and writing 38 articles. Now in my second semester of junior year, I have implemented a new pitch process for better organization and cleanest, I have already published more than 170 articles, and I have written 16 articles and will continue writing more! Besides working as the Editor-in-Chief, I am a dedicated student at Texas A&M studying Biomedical Sciences. I am also obtaining a minor in both English and Spanish. While not studying diligently, I work in a research lab grinding away, trying to get my name on some research papers (fingers crossed). In my free time, I read, obviously. I am also on the hunt for the best latte to ever bless this earth and love a good game of chess!
