Hi Barbie! Hi Ken!
The Barbie movie is officially out, screening in theaters. And thanks to the help of an amazing press tour (Margot Robbie, I love every one of your customer Barbie outfits), it’s on everybody’s watch list. Â
With it being the hit movie to watch this summer (Oppenheimer is a close second), everybody is leaning into the hype and the culture. I mean, if you’re watching Barbie, you’re watching it in style – aka Barbie pink! And companies are picking up what the public wants, selling exclusive Barbie inspired collections. But we have to ask ourselves, even though the hot pink skirt is to die for, are we going to wear it in two years time? There are countless products being produced as fast fashion. And we all know, fast fashion doesn’t last. So before you buy a new outfit just to watch the Barbie movie, do you have anything in your closet already? Can you buy the outfit second hand instead of brand new from Shein? Can you borrow from a friend instead?
I know, I know, with everybody buying new outfits just to watch the movie, you want to too. I want to too. But before we buy something brand new, we need to ask ourselves if it will last.
