Can you believe that we’re coming up on a year since that infamous Ned Fulmer cheating scandal? On Sept. 27, 2022, the internet seemingly burst into flames after Ned Fulmer, then a member of the Try Guys, allegedly cheated on his wife, Ariel Fulmer, with his employee Alexandria Herring. Now, almost a year later, we have reason to believe that Ned and Ariel are still together after being spotted together at a Taylor Swift concert — but I’m worrying about another relationship in this story: Is Ned Fulmer still friends with the Try Guys?
If you’re unfamiliar with the drama, 1) where have you been? And 2) I’ll fill you in. The Try Guys is a popular internet group that originated on BuzzFeed, and founded by Keith Habersberger, Zach Kornfeld, Eugene Lee Yang, and Ned. On BuzzFeed, the Try Guys created videos where they tried new things from testing the legal alcohol limit, to trying on wedding dresses, and everything in between. The group rose to internet prominence throughout the late 2010s, eventually leaving BuzzFeed to start their own independent production company, 2nd Try, LLC.
Then, on Sept. 27, 2022, news broke that Ned had been caught cheating on his wife Ariel with Herring, a producer at his company. The news, and the aftermath, were an absolute whirlwind — and it resulted in Ned leaving the company after a “thorough internal review” the same day the news broke. You had to be there. It was anarchy.
Days later, on Oct. 3, 2022, the remaining Try Guys (Lee Yang, Kornfeld, and Habersberger) posted a video called “what happened.” that, essentially, outlined what happened with Fulmer and Herring, their reactions to the news, and what was happening next. And while fans were quick to meme the situation, many internet users empathized with the creators. In their words, Ned was more than just a coworker, he was a friend. And he broke their trust.
Since the video, the Try Guys have laid low when it comes to discussing the situation — aside from a podcast posted on Oct. 6, 2022, where they basically repeated what they said in their viral video. Additionally, the Try Guys also edited Ned out of their re-recorded content, replacing him with a giant red elephant, or other CGI creatures.
So, are the Try Guys still friends With Ned Fulmer?
It’s important to remember that the Try Guys are internet personalities. Meaning? We have no clue what their interpersonal relationships look like, including their (possible) behind-the-scenes interactions with Ned. However, judging by how they’ve spoken about Ned since the incident, and their relationships with his wife Ariel, we can definitely draw some conclusions when it comes to their friendships… or lack thereof.
Now, Instagram followings aren’t everything (I still follow my high school bullies on IG, OK?), but they can definitely give us some clues. On Instagram, Ned still follows all of the other Try Guys members. None of them follow him back — but they do follow Ariel. It is worth noting, however, that both Ariel and Ned have been silent on social media since the news broke.
Additionally, while he isn’t an original Try Guy, Miles Bonsignore (who frequently appears on the Try Guys channel, and produces the TryPod podcast), has been vocal about his opinions surrounding Ned. On an episode of his own podcast, Perfect Person, Bonsignore was blunt about his feelings for Ned, saying, “I’ve always f*cking hated that guy.” The episode, however, is only available to stream through Bonsignore’s Patreon.
Given the Try Guys’ close friendship with Bonsignore, and their lack of interaction with Ned, it’s safe to say that their friendship is officially in the past. But, if the Try Guys ever release a tell-all with their feelings about Ned, you know I’ll be all ears.
