Why FSU Is Literally Just Teenage Girl-Coded

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

If you’re anything like me, you may have heard the sentiment “I’m literally just a teenage girl” somewhere on TikTok before, or maybe from a friend or a classmate when an assignment is particularly hard, and had no idea what those five words could possibly mean. However, being a teenage girl isn’t just about being a teenage girl: it’s a mindset. The Teenage Girl Mindset isn’t strict — anyone (and anything) can be teenage girl-coded. It just so happens that our campus might just be the most teenage girl of them all.

Being teenage girl-coded is Olivia Rodrigo, iced coffees, Taylor Swift, and spin classes. Being a teenage girl is loving the outdoors and hanging out with friends for as little as five minutes just to see each other. But you might be asking, Emmy, how does an entire college campus reflect the ultimate teenage girl status?

(Well, it wouldn’t be very teenage girl of me to not make a list explaining why.)

our Starbucks slayage

FSU has not two, not three, but four Starbucks locations across campus — and I’m probably missing one somewhere. Getting coffee is in the blueprint of every teenage girl-coded hangout, and there’s nothing better than getting a sweet treat after class to either celebrate or cry about how the day went.

Landis green

Honestly, I can’t name a place that slays more than Landis Green. Landis Green is heaven for all teenage girls, with aesthetic study spots, hammocks, sunbathing spots, and a gorgeous fountain. Also, there are almost always dogs, and everyone knows that teenage girls and dogs just go together.

Chick-fil-A and Panera bread

This prime campus location has to be the holy ground of all teenage girl activity, and there’s a good reason why. If you don’t believe my hypothesis, try it for yourself: go to the campus Chick-fil-A or Panera, count how many girls are there, and then count how many girls slay. Hint: you’ll get the same number for both.

Dodd Hall and Greek Park

If you’ve never studied or had a class in Dodd, you’re missing out on the beautiful stained-glass architecture, peace and quiet, and total teenage academia vibes. The same goes for Greek Park’s beautiful statues, calm vibes, and millions of hammock spots.

campus cats

This one is self-explanatory: the campus cats at FSU are literally life-changing. I could be having the worst day, but seeing one of those cats just lounging around in the middle of the street without a care in the world lifts my mood every time. I have to redact my earlier statement: there’s only one thing that goes better than dogs and teenage girls, and it’s cats and teenage girls.

At the end of the day, the Teenage Girl Mindset is more than just your age. Anyone can be teenage girl-coded. Grab a sweet treat with your friends, and study in a cute spot. After all, we’re literally just teenage girls… especially FSU.
