Taylor Swift *may* have confirmed her rumored romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce when she showed up to the Chiefs vs. Bears game on Sept. 24. Not only was she seen wearing red and white (his team colors), but the icing on the cake was when she spent the entire game sitting beside Travis’ mother… talk about a hard launch.
Now, as much as the Swifties love speculating about Swift’s love life, her support for Kelce was actually not the highlight of her Sunday appearance. Shocking, I know. In fact, it was very much overshadowed by a piece of chicken, ketchup, and… seemingly ranch? Yeah.
A picture of Swift began circulating with her meal in the frame, and one fan update account for Swift’s Eras Tour took to X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Taylor Swift was eating a piece of chicken with ketchup and seemingly ranch!” The Swifties went wild with this, and even though the mystery of what the white sauce actually was hasn’t been solved, the phrase “seemingly ranch” quickly became the star of the show.
Many companies and fast food joints like Arby’s, Jimmy John’s, and Heinz joined the frenzy, as one does when a good marketing opportunity presents itself, and suddenly seemingly ranch became everyone’s new favorite condiment.
Hidden Valley even took it a step further by renaming its Twitter page after the new sauce. Now that’s dedication!
But the Swifties weren’t done yet. Fans also began making Eras Tour-styled bracelets with the phrase on them, hilarious memes, and Halloween costumes. The former is even more cute once you remember that Swift and Kelce’s reported love story began when he attempted to give her a friendship bracelet at her Kansas City tour stop that had his phone number on it.
Swifties, I’m expecting tons of seemingly ranch costumes this Halloween.
Van Leeuwen an Hidden Valley actually do have ranch ice cream, in case you thought this one was just a joke.
So are Swift and Kelce dating? We don’t know. But what I can tell you is that chicken, ketchup, and seemingly ranch are a match made in heaven.
