If there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I am maybe a little too up-to-date with all the latest TikTok trends, and a lot of those are health and wellness-related. I also give in to a lot of these trends, like drinking kombucha on an empty stomach and those fun TikTok treadmill workouts. Recently, I’ve been seeing the “Cozy Cardio” trend on my FYP — and if you’re looking for a new workout routine or simply are just interested in learning about the trend you’ve come to the right place.Â
Now, the word “cardio” can be a bit daunting to some, myself included. There’s nothing I love more than a good HGW, but sometimes I also like to have a high-intensity workout to switch it up. But, don’t fret! The “cozy cardio” trend takes all the stress out of your typical cardio workout, and makes it something that is enjoyable and rewarding.Â
This trend started in 2022 when TikToker Hope Zuckerbrow began posting her workout routines in the early hours of the morning. I don’t know about you, but starting your day working out around 5-6 AM is already a lot. But, if you are planning to workout then, putting on bright lights creates a harsh and unmotivating environment, IMHO. That’s why Zuckerbrow takes a different approach and makes her cardio routine “cozy.” Zuckerbrow’s routine starts by making herself a coffee, dimming the lights, lighting her favorite candle, and putting on an episode of TV. Then, she walks on her walking pad for around 40 minutes.Â
To make this workout even more cozy, Zuckerbrow will sometimes wear pajamas or loungewear — sometimes, she even wears slippers! I don’t know about you, but this sounds like the most enjoyable and relaxing way to exercise.Â
Zuckerbrow explained in a TikTok that she wanted “cozy cardio to be a movement for women to reclaim their relationship with exercise.” She also explains how cardio/exercise should be something that makes you feel good, not simply for the purpose of burning calories or reaching a goal weight. Zuckerbrow’s concept of “cozy cardio” has been praised by many of her viewers and followers, many of them claiming it has made them feel more comfortable when it comes to exercise.Â
How do I achieve the “cozy cardio” trend?
If you are curious about how to achieve the “cozy cardio” routine, it’s quite simple. It doesn’t have to be on a walking pad or a treadmill; it can be whatever your idea of movement looks like! For me, that would be a HGW or yoga, but for some people that could be a sunrise (or sunset) run or pilates. It’s really all about the environment and how you make it cozy and comfortable for you as you work out. As Zuckerbrow explains, this whole concept is “meant to help you enjoy movement again.”Â
