Being Funny in a Foreign Language – The 1975
Even if you don’t think you’re a fan of The 1975, I expect there is at least one song on here for you. Their latest album ‘Being Funny in a Foreign Language’ is perhaps their easiest oen to listen to, and despite Matty Healy’s numerous controversies, every song is definitely a banger!
Favourite Tracks: All of them! I can’t choose!!
Suck It and See – Arctic Monkeys
I think Arctic Monkeys are essential on any playlist, not just an autumn-specific one. However, for autumn I would recommend ‘Suck it and See’, which includes more ballad-eque songs, compared to their earlier, heavier music. This is a fantastic album, and a great gateway if you want to ease into arctic monkeys’ vast discography.
Favourite Tracks: The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala, Piledriver Waltz, and Suck It and See
100 – The Hunna
This is an album I’m loving at the moment! ‘100’ is an energetic indie album full of catchy songs and fun guitar riffs, with a few slower songs sprinkled in too. They’re also performing at The Foudnry in Torquay this November, so try to go along if you enjoy their album.
Favourite Track: We Could Be
How Beautiful Life Can Be – The Lathams
This is an upbeat, feel-good indie album. Every song feels like a burst of nostalgia, and The Lathams strike the perfect balance between melancholy and innocence through their lyrics and accompanying melodies. I’d recommend this one for fans of bands like The Wombats, Circa Waves, and The Kooks.
Favourite Tracks: The Great Escape and I’ll Get By
This Is Really Going To Hurt – Flyte
This is more of a recommendation from my dad than from me; after months of hum raving about Flyte, I finally caved and listened to their tunes a few months ago! Flyte’s ‘This Is Really Going to Hurt’ from 2021 is a relaxed break-up album, perfect for easy listening. Florence Pugh is also a huge Flyte fan and even recorded a cover of ‘Tough Love’ with the band, which is on their YouTube – you should definitely check it out!
Favourite Tracks: Easy Tiger and Love is an Accident
