As a self-proclaimed fall girl, I have been searching for apples, pumpkins, and cinnamon since September 1st. With the recent warm weather and trees falling, it has been the perfect time to reward yourselves with a fall treat for your hard work at this point in the semester. Here are some of my favorite fall treats that you can find near campus!
Caramel Apple Chai at Vault & Vine
Vault & Vine is located about a 5-10 minute walk from the Ravenhill side of campus and is the perfect spot to get a special drink all year round. Although I usually choose coffee over chai, when I saw this Caramel Apple Chai on their Instagram, I knew I had to try it. Hot or iced, this drink comes with caramel and apple syrups and the chai adds the perfect amount of spice to make it feel like you’re drinking apple pie.
Peach Cobbler Bowl at Boostin’ Bowls
Boostin’ Bowls is located in Manayunk and serves acai bowls and smoothies. Last October, I tried their fall seasonal acai bowl, the Peach Cobbler Bowl, and I’ve been dreaming about it ever since. This acai bowl is topped with granola, vanilla wafers, peaches, pecans, and cinnamon honey. It is without a doubt the best acai bowl I have ever had and you have to try it while it’s available during October!
Cinnamon Bun Pancakes at Le Bus
The Cinnamon Bun Pancakes at Le Bus East Falls is not technically a fall seasonal item, but in my opinion, is the perfect fall brunch item. Le Bus is about a 20-minute walk from the Ravenhill side of campus and has amazing weekend brunches. My family and I tried their Cinnamon Bun Pancakes on a recent visit, and they were so delicious. The pancakes have swirls of cinnamon, making them look just like a cinnamon bun, and are topped with cinnamon sugar. Le Bus’ warm atmosphere is the perfect place to spend a fall morning, especially with these delicious pancakes.
Baked Apple Croissant at Starbucks
When I’m at home, I frequently visit my local Starbucks, where I get a butter croissant with my drink almost every visit. When I saw that Starbucks was coming out with an apple croissant for fall, I was so excited and this treat did live up to my expectations. The pastry is shaped like a muffin more than a croissant, but it still has that delicious buttery, flaky dough and is topped with baked apples, like apple pie filling. Since it’s come out, this has gotten harder and harder to find, but if you are at a Starbucks where they have it in stock, you have to try it!
Sweet Cinnamon Filled Korean Pancakes at Trader Joe’s
After seeing these on TikTok, I impulsively picked them up during a grocery run with my roommate as part of a long list of fall treats to try with my boyfriend. These Korean pancakes are the Trader Joe’s version of hotteok, a popular street food in South Korea, traditionally filled with brown sugar. Just in time for fall, this version is filled with gooey, delicious cinnamon. The bag you buy includes 4 pancakes and is stored in the freezer. They can be quickly prepared using the microwave and a small pan or the air fryer to get a golden, flaky outside. The texture of the outside and the filling are amazing, and popping one of these in the air fryer has been the perfect breakfast treat for some of the dreary fall mornings we’ve had so far.
