6 ‘Gilmore Girls’ Episodes Perfect for Christmas

The opinions expressed in this article are the writer’s own and do not reflect the views of Her Campus.
This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.
Season 4, Episode 11: “In The Clamor And The Clangor”

This episode focuses on the relationship between Luke and Lorelai, building up the inevitability of their romance. They sneak into a local church to damage dysfunctional bells that won’t quit ringing and Luke shovels Lorelai’s driveway as a thoughtful gesture. In the B plot, Rory Gilmore’s best friend Lane Kim continues feuding with her mom and visits Rory at Yale University. The winter vibes in this episode are immaculate due to the constant snow!

Season 3, Episode 10: “That’ll Do, Pig”

If you love stormy winter weather, this is the episode for you! In this episode, Rory Gilmore is dating Luke’s nephew, Jess Mariano. However, she ends up attending a winter festival with her ex-boyfriend, Dean. This causes, as you can imagine, a massive scandal and classic love triangle drama. Lastly, Emily Gilmore’s mother-in-law comes to visit and throws the entire family dynamic for a loop.

Season 5, Episode 11: “Women Of Questionable Morals”

Another Gilmore Girls episode that highlights the winter spirit, this one opens with Lorelai smelling snow in the air with Luke by her side. This cements their relationship and adds to the happiness of the scene. This leads to Luke building Lorelai an entire ice-skating rink, which is honestly relationship goals. On the other hand, the town mayor Taylor Doose holds auditions for a “woman of questionable morals” playing in a reenactment.

Season 1, Episode 10: “Forgiveness & Stuff”

This is the very first Christmastime episode, occurring after Rory and Dean stayed out all night without any notice. Rory and Lorelai have a mother-daughter conflict that causes a rift between them. In addition to all of this trouble, Emily uninvites Lorelai from her Christmas party. However, this effort proves to be futile when Richard Gilmore collapses suddenly and everyone rushes to the hospital to be there for him. This brings everyone back together as a family just in time to renew the holiday spirit!

Season 7, Episode 11: “Santa’s Secret Stuff”

At the beginning of this episode, Rory returns with Logan from London to spend Christmas with her family. Lorelai and Christopher are married now, but she just can’t seem to get Luke out of her mind. Lorelai reminisces with Rory about her relationship with Luke. This episode does have a lot of Christmas feels, but there is also an unmistakeable element of sadness to it in my opinion.

Season 2, Episode 10: “The Bracebridge Dinner”

This is the ultimate Christmas episode on this list. If you have to pick one episode to watch, this should be your choice. In this episode, Sookie and Lorelai plan a large 18th century-themed party for guests. However, they end up canceling, and they just hold it for the townsfolk instead. This has all the important parts we think of when Christmas arrives: sitting around a table with family and friends, telling stories and laughing. To top it all off, horse-drawn carriages are pulled through the snow! This enhances the magical holiday quality immensely.
