Music has always been able to put me in that perfect mood for the holidays. Despite the not so cold weather Texas has been having as of late, I’ve managed to create that Fall/Winter mood with my music! While the Fall season is still going strong, I just had to include some songs for the Winter (the best season).
- fade into you by mazzy star
-
I spent a long time debating what song I should start off with, and I ultimately decided on “Fade Into You” because it simply encompasses the atmosphere that Fall and Winter bring. I relate a lot of love/yearning songs to this time of year, and this song is a classic in that regard.
- about you by the 1975
-
I’m not entirely sure when this song was released, but I’ve always related it to cold weather. “About You” feels like cold air piercing your face even when the weather is 80 degrees outside. I’m definitely not alone in this, but the bridge is simply amazing to listen to. If you are not feeling this song at first, please wait until the bridge before disregarding it entirely.
- Love, You Should’ve come over by jeff buckley
-
Scream singing this song is essential for everyone at one point in their lives. The consistent guitar in this song really adds to the whole ambience. I’m usually one to blast this song in the car. If you’re missing your significant other or simply want them to get the hint, then go ahead and send them this song!
- Seasons by wave to earth
-
I heard this song for the first time on TikTok, and I knew I had to add it to my playlist. It’s a very chill song, and I appreciate those melancholy vibes during the holidays. I love playing this song on a cloudy day, and it’s great to drive to. I haven’t listened to any other songs by this artist, but if you like this song, I suggest listening to more of their discography!
- ‘Tis the damn season
-
This wouldn’t be a song recommendation without at least one song being by Taylor. “’tis the damn season” is arguably one of the Taylor’s best songs off of Evermore. I had the best time hearing this live at the Eras Tour, and I will be reminiscing on that experience as we get closer to the holidays. If a song could be a month, this song would simply scream “November.”
These are, by far, my favorite songs to play during this time of year. I will have them on repeat for the last months of 2023. Hopefully, the Texas weather cools down soon, so these songs can be enjoyed with a fresh cup of hot chocolate instead of iced coffee!
