Wow! Here we are again, Hallo-week! At the climax of the spooky season, I thought that I would compile some of the best Halloween recipes that I could find so that you can unleash the beats of festive baking! Below are four easy recipes that are perfect for the season.  Enjoy these spooktacular treats! Let’s boo this!

RECIPES

🕸️🕷️🦇🎃👻

Chocolate Pretzel Spider Webs:

At the top of my snack pyramid are pretzels, and my holy grail of sweets is chocolate. Putting these two beauties together into this frighteningly delicious sweet treat? Sign me up. I originally saw this recipe from Almost a Farmhouse, where author Alicia Laire includes several sweet and savory Halloween recipe ideas.

Ingredients:

  • Stick pretzels
  • Melted milk/dark and white chocolate

Directions:

  • Take three stick pretzels and place them in a star shape on a sheet of wax paper
  • Melt the chocolate
  • Place the milk/dark chocolate into a piping bag, or a ziplock baggie with the corner cut off, and pipe the chocolate into a web pattern between the pretzels. Repeat with the white chocolate.
  • Refrigerate to allow the chocolate to set
    • NOTE! These pretzel webs are very delicate and will break if handled too roughly!

Rice Krispie Treat Pumpkins:

This baking recipe is an ode to the genesis of the beloved jack-o’-lantern: pumpkins! Developed by Debbie Chapman over at One Little Project, these Rice Krispie pumpkins are the perfect low-maintenance treat to celebrate the season.

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies
  • Âź cup butter
  • 1 bag marshmallows
  • Red & yellow food coloring (to dye the Rice Krispie mixture Orange!)
  • Mini Rolos (for the stem)
  • Green M&Ms (for the leaves)

Directions:

  • Melt the butter in a large pot over low heat, add in marshmallows, and stir until melted
  • Remove from heat. Now is the time for color! Debbie says that she uses about 4 drops red and 12 drops yellow, but advises to start with the yellow and SLOWLY (as in one drop at a time) add in the red to achieve your preferred color. Mix well.
  • Add in the Rice Krispies, and mix to combine well.
  • Roll into small balls! Another tip from the baking master Debbie—coat your hands with butter/oil to avoid creating the stickiest mess you’ve ever seen on your hands.
  • While the Rice Krispie balls are still warm, add a Rollo and an M&M to the top, to make the stem and leaf.
  • Allow to cool completely, and enjoy!

NOTE: If you’re wary of using artificial food dyes, King Arthur Baking provides some effective, quick, and easy recipes to make your own food dyes using fruit, fruit powders, spices, and teas :)

Halloween Swirl Cream Cheese Brownies:

With a webby swirl decorating the top layer, these orange and black brownie cheesecake bars really put the TREAT in trick-or-treat! Coming to you from Melissa Williams at Persnickety Plates, buckle in for a dessert that could raise the dead!

Pumpkin Fudge:

This one isn’t exclusively Halloween-themed, but I wanted to end on a versatile Autumn dessert that could very well last you through the end of November! Thanks to Lisa Longley at Simple Joy, the marriage of pumpkin and fudge is here! The taste buds are already dancing.
