As time flies by, it’s crazy to think that it’s almost November! As a girl who loves a good movie, I’ve found that so many great ones aren’t premiering until later this year. So stay excited even if your classes are tiring you (trust me I get it).
We all have our preferences when it comes to movie genres and luckily, there’s a little bit of everything coming out in the remainder of this year! Ending our year by watching various movies sounds so nice and I’m counting down the days. So without further ado, here’s a lineup of ones that I’ll for sure be seeing, and I hope you guys do too as we all need a nice laugh, scream, and even cry at the movies sometimes.
Priscilla
“But I can’t help falling in love with you” are iconic words sung by an iconic man we all know and love: singer and actor Elvis Presley. In Priscilla, which will be released in theaters on Nov. 3, 2023, we view Priscilla Presley’s life from her young teenage years when she first laid eyes on Elvis to their ups and downs as a couple. We see a different side to Elvis compared to that of his biopic that was released last year starring Austin Butler. With big stars such as Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi playing Elvis in Priscilla, I’m sure this film is going to be a must-see.
Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé
All the single ladies, now put your hands up! For those of you who know about Taylor Swift’s latest concert movie, this movie is similar in aspects except it’s about singer-songwriter BeyoncĂ©! We get a deep dive into her Renaissance World Tour, which is the greatest-grossing concert tour by a woman (you go Beyonce!). Make sure to bring your “BeyHive” and enjoy a movie all about Queen Bey on Dec. 1, 2023!
Wonka
The film I’m most excited about, as I’ve loved its earlier versions, is Wonka. Releasing in theaters on Dec. 15, 2023, this origin story of the beloved Willy Wonka character introduces us to him when he is a young chocolate maker, inventor, and magician. It shows how he finds his Oompa-Loompas and embarks on an adventure to become a mastermind in the candy world. I’m thrilled about this take on a beloved classic, as we’ve never quite seen how the Chocolate Factory came together on-screen.
The Color Purple
Who doesn’t love a musical? The Color Purple features Halle Bailey from the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, so we’ll get to see another side to her talented acting. I’m fond of Alice Walker’s novel The Color Purple, which depicts the lives of African-American women living in rural Georgia in the early 1900s. It’s even a Pulitzer Prize winner for fiction. A musical adaptation is a different way to portray this novel, but one thing that can bring many of us together is music. The movie is set to release on Dec. 25, 2023.
These are just a few of the anticipated movies coming out later this year. Others will be released such as Wish, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, and The Marvels. With the array of entertainment coming out, there’s bound to be at least one movie that’ll strike some interest in those of you who are moviegoers. So stock up on all your favorite snacks, lay back, and relax in front of the big screen, as we have a lot in store for cinema!
